I love to sleep. When I was a kid I used to sleep many, blissful hours. And then came school. I hated that alarm clock that roused me from dreamland and condemned me to day prison.

My father hated to sleep. He felt he was wasting his life while he was asleep. He thought I was lazy. He died at 55 year old.

I’ve had a few jobs that required awakening to the sound of an alarm, but they never lasted. I finally settled on being a chiropractor and working my own hours, retiring early, enjoying a long, blissful sleep and awakening naturally when the sun came up.

A recent study seems to indicate that sleeping fewer than 6 hours a night not only shortens your life, it predisposes one to Alzheimer’s disease. Apparently, your brain has a clean-out cycle that takes many hours to complete. During that time it removes a protein called beta amyloid. If that cycle is cut short, beta amyloid builds up. Amyloid plaque buildup is thought to be responsible for Alzheimer’s disease.

Dreamland is just another reality. Get those 8 hours of sleep and be healthy.

I may be a lark, but since moving south, I am becoming partial to taking afternoon siestas...

Wow. You are south! Better for the siesta since it's part of the culture. Yo trabajo para vivir, no vivo para trabajar. I love Latin Turtle Island.

Cool!

Agreed.

People who say sleep is a waste of time need to improve their time management during awakened hours.

I do my time management when I'm asleep. Maybe that's the problem?

Are you a lucid dreamer? :)

Hardly ever. Not very lucid in my awake state either.

Today's routines are making sure there will be a fast number of sick people to consult doctors and require medicine... If more would act as you did in your life, .... ha, let's not even spinn that into yarn... it might become a thread...

Do they change the time in Europe? They do here on T.I. We lose an hour in the spring and then it gets added back in the fall. They say it was put in place for farmers, so they'd get up earlier in the summer. That's a lie. Farmers don't pay much attention to the time. When the sun comes up they get going. When the sun goes down they go to bed. They change the time because they know people's most productive time is in the morning. Get them to work earlier and you get more productivity from them. Lots of folk here love daylight savings time because they have more light in the evenings. I'd rather have my mornings, thank you.

We have the same "bullshit" still here and I agree with you in every word! It is interessting to research when it was first implemented and why... war and soldiers, candles and light... and.. but this is not the official narrative: disconnection from the roots off the origin...

Would be nice if my surroundings let me sleep as much as i need
Neighbors talking outside, the typhoon rattling and shaking the roofs here recently, all that is getting on my nerves.

Please sleep sound everyone

We all do the best we can.

We all need a good cat nap in the sun! ☀😸

Sometimes in the shade.

I am with you! I love to sleep and am not a happy camper if I don't get enough of it. I also read that not enough sleep leads to diabetes. Yup. Sleep is good! today: https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-12-5-minute-freewrite-prompt-some-change
