The plaid pants I am thinking of were worn primarily in grade school by someone who I really liked and appreciated at the time. She and her family recently moved from another state, I believe it was Wisconsin it's amazing how I could such an important thing like that at the time and now I have dig very deep for the slightest recollections. She was very pretty, very kind, and easily the smartest person in the room. I suppose you could certainly call me a grade schooler enamored with her certainly in my part, or crush. No disrespect to the teacher, she was very knowledgeable, but the teacher being honest would likely have to think twice about who would do better in a class neither one of them had taken up to that point. She was very nice and I was lucky enough to sit next to her in our changing seating arrangement that was very dynamic, you know how that is during that time. This girl could out-wait a chess champion, she had the patience of a saint and the humility as well while I on the other hand had the attention span of a gnat more than likely during that time. Only after years of developing it very consciously did ever find the ability to focus on the task at hand. Unfortunately for me at that time she moved a few years later, which was a devastation at the time, one that I thought I never would get over and I never heard from anyone in the family at all again. It seemed traumatic at the time but I think about it now and the countless events that had happened in between a year at the age of ten is like an eternity and I laugh at how caught up in the moment you get directly related to your age in years.

What a vivid story you paint of this girl who made such a lasting impression. My mind travels to who this young girl must have grown up to. I wonder how her life has unfolded. What a nice memory you shared in this freewrite.

Yeah, funny until I was prompted to bring up this cue I probably had not thought about it 25+ years. Thanks for the comment and thanks again for introducing me to this wonderful writing community. It's a lot of fun (and not at all time consuming) to write your post and read the others. Thanks for the comment, it's always welcome @wandrnrose!

I'm excited to be able to read your thoughts and yes, the Freewrites are short but the writing is so refreshing to me! You're so welcome!

You're right! Our childhood crushes seem so silly and cute when we look back and realize how completely they took over our attention!

Long ago delightful prompts that would inspire people to travel to new lands on other worlds and within themselves was written on an enchanted scroll. Too bad the kids that found it thought it was a takeout menu. This will end well!

Thanks very much @brisby for the commentary totally agreed!

Welcome to freewrites! It has been a lot of fun for me, as well as challenging. I hope you continue to enjoy it. I, too, remember incidents that seemed so earth-shattering as a child, and now it's just a dim recollection.
