5 Minute Freewrite Challenge Day 104 Cigarettes

freewrite cigarettes fitinfun.jpg

Cigarettes are such a hot button in some places and absolutely no issue in others. I lived in Southern California where people think they will die if they are exposed to second-hand smoke. Now in Southeast Asia – I am shocked to see non-smokers allow others to smoke in their houses and cars and they are not dead!

A few years ago, I looked into death rates from many causes in my obesity work. One of the odder stats I found is a huge leap in US lung cancer rates over the last 20 years with a dramatic drop in the rate of smoking at the same time. Apparently those deaths are not from smoking or second hand smoke, but something else unknown.

Most of the health research I have done on any topic leads me to conclusions not found in the mainstream. I no longer question myself and figure anything generally accepted is probably a lie.

My entry is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest. You can do it too and you should if you are on here new. Just go look for Marianne’s prompt post and try it!

I am sure lung cancer has many reasons since too many non-smokers are getting it, but smokers do get nasty coughs, they stink and all of that - I used to smoke when I was younger and can attest that it has an impact on the body :)

Yes it definitely does. There's some reason for this huge upsurge though.

I imagine all of the additives in our foods and Rx meds that are being pushed more and more all the time aren't helping people stay healthy, either. I suppose we all just have to keep educating ourselves and figuring our what works to make us feel best!

Also, I am here helping @mariannewest with freewrites today:

@byn

Thank you @byn. I'm so late to my comments. Thank you so much for all your help on freewrite. I really believe in this and love to see all the support.

I lost all my weight by getting the additives out of my life. It's not easy, but I feel so much better.

I've heard a lot of people in Thailand smoke a lot, so I assumed as soon as I saw the title of the prompt you would bring that up lol!

Actually Thai people smoke very little even though they do not seem to be bothered by it. The rates are very low here - I think 3% for women and somewhat more for men. I noticed it when I got here. Even though I was in California, I did see people smoking. But I do not see them here often.

I no longer question myself and figure anything generally accepted is probably a lie.

I couldn't agree more!

It's a sad state of affairs. I got wised up when I researched food, additives, and food safety. So many lies and stuff hidden in plain sight! no wonder everyone is sick and obese.

It's just disgusting. So many people are nutritional starving and sick. Once we learned about it, it changed our lives, and we don't trust anything mainstream anymore. In fact we were just talking today about how the government tells us to eat three meals a day...which isn't necessary...because if we think we need more, we'll buy more.

Here in Thailand they eat breakfast type food before bed and dinner-like food in the morning. I heard the US eats cereal for breakfast only because Kellogg's etc pushed it back in the early 1900's. That food makes you tired - not ready for the day.

I've been eating one meal a day for years and I'm fine like this. I eat when I'm hungry. Since about mid-December, I've been on a 75% liquid diet and that is going great. One size does not fit all :)

Yes! My husband, @freedompoint, and I intermittent fast...so we eat between 11 and 8, roughly 2 meals, but if we aren't hungry then we wait.

To the best of my knowledge, there was a huge grocery push after WWII creating foods that were already processed, including breads and cereals. Now all you had to do was go and buy it instead of making it. My mom, who was born in the 1950's, remembers how excited her mom was that the stores kept expanding..meaning she could buy more and live a little easier.

The downside, which we're dealing with now, is food that has been so tampered with that o
it no longer resembles home cooked. And there are generations of people who don't know how to prepare food.

To answer your question, yes, here in the US, sugary breakfasts are very common, with light lunches and heavy dinners. It took a long time to fix my perspective on what a breakfast food should be, and a
our dinners are much lighter now, full of food that's easier to digest.

Passive smokers/second hand smokers are much damaged than smokers in all these days. May be due to hypertension and some other mental diseases.

Thank you so much for highlighting the research based information My Lovely Friend

Stay Blessed :)

That's a funny idea. The people who care about 2nd hand smoke might be the ones who worry about everything.

You must be have been gone for a while. Now doctors tell us about third hand smoke as well. Smoke from the residue that Cigarettes leave.

Yes, I have been gone for two wonderful years. Why am I not surprised about 3rd hand smoke? I do not miss the California attitude one bit!

It's interesting that I did not know it, I always thought it came straight from the cigarette or cigarette smoke

Apparently not, but they have us all fooled.

Quite 4 years ago and I feel amazing!

Good for you. That is not an easy task.

Cigarettes are very harmful toxins to humans. But humans still smoke cigarettes because of sakau

I'm not familiar with that term. What is sakau?

thanks for the information because I am also a smoker

You're welcome.
