Today's #freewrite prompt: Think
She really tried to think of a way out of going to the conference. It wasn’t her cup of tea, after all and what did they care if she was there or not? All of those people. What did she care what they thought of her anyway? She went over the excuses in her head. Dead grandmother? No, that would lead to questions about the funeral and was too risky. Illness? Again, too risky. She didn’t want anyone to know that she was sick. She hid it too well from everyone, and if they started looking at her like she was about to keel over then she knew she wouldn’t get anything done, never mind getting work. Who wants to hire someone with her condition? She never knew if she was going to wake up one morning and not be able to walk, or need to sleep for the entire day. She needed to keep working, even if some days she couldn’t hardly hold her own head up and couldn’t think at all.
Intriguing, it could definitely bear a follow up.
