What the bird, indeed, bird.
A little sparrow was cheeping in between the storm windows and the regular windows. There was no way for it to have gotten in there... except by extra-dimensional means.
"You know what this means?" Boffin asked his parakeet, "It means my inter-germinational ship is ready!"
Boffin didn't know why a sparrow had grown from a tomato seed, but he was too excited to care. The intergerminational ship had sent the idea of the seed through the 10th dimension and set it down on the other side of a space that was surrounded by 3 dimensions. In the process, it had somehow become a sparrow, BUT AGAIN, THAT WASN'T THE SALIENT DETAIL.
