This will be my nineteenth 5 minute #freewrite here in the Steemiverse. Today's writing prompt is Bushwhacked and you can find out more here. So now, without further ado...
Stomping through the long grass, making her way to safety. Beating a way for her children so they could walk more at ease, Abigail Jenkins wiped the sweat from her brow and carried on the intensity.
It had been a good two hours now walking through the forest and beating back the bush to make a path into the unknown. All she had was her handy compass and the grit and determination to make it to the point in her map that meant salvation.
It was gruelling hard work and she was so grateful her children followed on behind her with the same grit she had inside herself. They were good kids and they understood what was happening, the whys and the wherefores. That was important. They were together in this endeavour and all knew how hard it was going to be to make this new life.
They were going to go far into the jungle and live a new life totally off grid. Their old life would be left far behind. She signalled to her eldest, Benjamin, that they would be stopping shortly. She had seen a clearing up yonder and it was time for them to sit and eat. They were all bushwhacked and needed to rest.
