Now, on to writing

Prompt: itching

  • Set your timer for 5 minutes.
  • Start writing
  • Use the hashtag #freewrite
  • Publish your piece (include a link to this post if you wish)

Copy and paste your URL into the comment section of the prompt post.

Or, if you don't want to publish your freewrite, just copy and paste as a comment under the prompt post.
If you don't know what a freewrite is, here is a link to the introduction post:

If you like this and want more people to come out and play - resteem!

This Week's Plan

We are doing this for 3 weeks now and our numbers have grown! Which is wonderful and I am very excited about this. But, alas, my steam power is not big enough to up-vote all your posts and all the links you leave in the comments of the post.

So, I came up with this plan.

For 7 days, starting Monday, November 6/2017 and ending Sunday, November 12/2017, I will share the SBD payout of the prompt posts with all of you who do the following:

  • Post at least 2 freewrites in the 7 days
  • Use the prompt - I will not accept posts which have nothing at all to do with the prompt. The idea is to write something new for this challenge.
  • Leave a link to your freewrite or copy your 5 minute freewrite in the comments of the prompt.
  • You must do all - I can’t hunt you all down to try to count you.

I will add up the SBD of the 10 prompts and divide it equally between all who have participated in at least 2 freewrites AND left the link in the comments.
You can post at each prompt until Sunday 7PM PST- that gives you a lot of time to get your 2 prompts in :)

The sharing will happen after the last prompt post-payout. Approx. 7 days after the Sunday prompt posts.

I will try this for one week and see how much work that is for me. We see what next week will bring.

Remember to check your voting power. Do not vote for a while if you are under 90!

Things you Need to Know About Images in Your Posts

Our freewriter and photographer @dmcamera has written several post on the proper usage of images and how to NOT be a plagiarist. Please, do not steal images!!!!

https://steemit.com/steemit/@dmcamera/hey-steemit-royalty-free-images-are-not-free-images

Just recently, and article was published citing all kinds of free sources for images and here is @dmcamera's response (copied her with permission)

You have some very bad information on here! I need to correct your usage of the term ROYALTY FREE! Royalty free is a type of licensing which allows the licensee to pay only once for the use of an image. They are NOT free images. The images on some of the sites you have found may or may not be FREE , but they are not Royalty free! If they are, then you will have to pay an RF license for each image. Getty Images allows the use of images to bloggers ONLY if an embed code is used. It's not possible to use the embed code on Steemit, so it's impossible to justify using an image from Getty in here! I have made my living from Royalty Free images for many years now, and it is quite demoralizing to read a post that tells the world to take my work for free!!

Check out her profile for more articles and I will link to more in the future.

Also, I would love it if you all check out each others #freewrite and spread some love :)

Welcome little Lochlan in this crazy beautiful world! God bless you!
Bravi @improv and most of all @stinawog! Congratulazioni!

Congratulations @stinawog & @improv! Welcome to the world little Lochlan! May your days be blessed with love, laughter, and wonder!

THANKS! He promises to be full of laughter, as he already seems to smile (I know it's not really smiling, but it looks like it) when he farts.

Look at you, punning away.

Yay!

Ahh, welcome to the newest writer on the block, little Lochlan. Congrats @mariannewest I am guessing that is your new baby? As I'm new here I thought I better check and ask :)

not mine :) it is @improv and @stinawog's baby :)

Cool, I'm glad I asked now, well congrats to @improv and @stinawog :)

P.S. I'm going to stop being lazy and do my second freewrite prompt for today's theme in a bit :-)

Yup. Our baby is already writing epics. Unfortunately, he can't hold a writing implement or speak yet, so they're lost in the sands of time. That's ok. All art is temporary. that's what makes it beautiful.

Congratulations are in order @improv and @stinawog :)

Still not myself but here goes https://steemit.com/freewrite/@tezmel/itching-seduction :)

THANKS! We're pretty thrilled so far. Turns out we were getting way more sleep than any human needs. We're making up for that now.

hahaha Welcome to the zombie parent stage :) This too shall pass - in a few years :)

Most welcome! Enjoy every minute you can, they grow up too fast :)

Hi, @mariannewest I attempted a first for me. I write lots of poetry but this was poetry with time constraints and no editing - scary 😬. Here is my entry: https://steemit.com/poetry/@raj808/5-minute-freewrite-prompt-itching

Here is my entry: Itching

Thank you so much for the goat visit!! We all get to share in it. Yay!!

Thanks for highlighting the plagiarism problem and my posts relation to it! My biggest concern (which is not Steemit's) is copyright infringement which is illegal, whereas plagiarism is not. Just giving credit to a photographer removes the plagiarism problem, but not the copyright infringement one. Copyright infringement can cost someone thousands of dollars. On Steemit, people are simply trusted to do the right thing, as no one is policing content. What people need to remember is that Steemit is searchable on the web, so if they are infringing on copyright, they will be found out sooner or later. I simply want to educate people, so that they don't get into big legal trouble!

I thank you for that. I usually use my own pictures because of that - not because they are so great :) It is sometimes hard to know if you are breaking a rule or not..... I am hoping that you will educate us more and more on this. and maybe the steemcleaners as well...

It's refreshing to see your original photography with posts. Steeemcleaners have no power to do anything about copyright infringement. It is up to the the authors to decide whether to take the risk or not. The problem is, Steemit would be legally responsible too because they do not follow the guidelines (like making it clear that copyright infringement is not tolerated and also educating users about it) that sites have to follow to be deemed "Safe harbors" - and that means it would cost ALL of us should there be a big lawsuit. A Safe Harbor has some protection from lawsuits under the law. That's a problem Steemit and all of us may have to face one day. At the moment copyright infringement is rife on Steemit. It would just need one of the large stock agencies to swoop down and, well.........................

you are fast!!!

Just happen to be here when the contest popped up. I figured I'd go ahead and do it before I forget. It's just past 11 pm here in the Philippines and I'll be heading to bed soon.

Sleep well. I just got up :)

Happy Friday Marianne! (Thanks for making me feel itchy...)

Itching. You gotta be fucking kidding me Marianne. My fingers are itching to tickle you till you can't breathe anymore.

But somehow I can't say no. You know that I take Steemit serious Marianne and you know that I can't say no to creating more content when people want that from me.

You are torturing me in a good sense. It is like you are supporting me.

"You can do more Philip!" like a friend that tells me that I can always do 1 more step, do 1 more thing.

I don't like people who tell me to take a break. Fuck those people. They work 9-5 and talk about breaks.

They never truly worked. My fists itch when I hear normal people giving me advice about this or that.

Imagine a fat guy telling you to eat more protein. Experienced that two times. Being big as ever and that fat guy in the bar who everheard me and my boys back in time when we wear talking about lifting just shouts that to us.

What the hell fat guy. You should drop the Hop because that increases your estrogen levels. Real man don't drink beer. They also don't milk. They drink the blood from their enemies (and water).

That would help you to lose weight mr fat guy and it would stop making my fists itch!

I know!! it is so amusing when people give you advice and they obviously have no clue! got to laugh hard about those fools :) Here is today's https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/weekend-freewrite-2-november-11-2017

I don't like the combined freewrites Marianne. I Will skip this one.

You are "free" to do so :)

Don't put a fucking curse on me.

You always make me laugh!! Okay, no curse today lol

of course!! We are excited for you!!

Hi @mariannewest, I'm trying to jump onto this moving train, here. Question: do you want the freewrite posts only on the days they are assigned? I mean, are posts for day 22 only valid on day 22? Do you wish I would stop asking questions? :-)

if you want to jump on the train of sharing the payout for this week, You can post on any prompt from day 18 through day 24 until 8PM Pacific Standart time. For just writing for the fun of it - any day from day one on. Also, I posted the consolidation prompt today - basically, feel free to use any prompt from the very beginning to now to post in the comments of that post.

I feel like I should write a disclaimer here concerning my freewriting thus far. First of all I am extremely slow and methodical in almost everything that I do, it takes me longer than 5 minutes to draw a breath and exhale (Slight exaggeration), so it takes me longer than five minutes to write my post. So far I just start writing the first thing that pops into my head and I keep writing until I reach a stopping point where the story makes some sense. I either find the graphic that I want to use before I start writing or after, and that takes a little time. I also must confess that I have the Grammarly App on my computer which really cuts down on spelling and grammar errors.

So if this style is not acceptable then please exclude me from a share in any rewards. I just jumped on this project because I thought that it would be fun to do a story on some random word or phrase every day and I saw a good chance to make some new and creative friends. But I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to be deceitful. I do the blog as fast as possible and non stop from start to finish, but I use more that five minutes for sure.

You are absolutely fine!!! I think the majority of participants are spending more than 5 minutes :) Really, as long as it gets people writing it all is good!! And we are becoming friends as well. Even better.
I actually suggested the Grammarly app to this group. A lot of us are not native Englisch speakers and I find it very helpful. And I do correct spelling after I am done with the 5 minutes.
Here is why I continue to call it the 5 min freewrite. First off, some here have a lot of writing experience and really just want to do the 5 min. It's like a kickstart of the brain. And sometimes, great lines or stories develope we would never think off.
Second, 5 minutes is manageable. It invites you in. It gives permission to stop when the timer goes off and go on with the day. Even if it is just a few sentences, and even if those sentences make no sense at all.
If we call it the 30 min freewrite - that seems too long - to much of a commitment.
That said, you do what you feel is right for you and we love it!! No matter if it takes you much longer then 5 min.
That said, if you keep going, you might surprise yourself and notice that the writing get s faster and easier. Or not. and that is okay as well.
LOve that you are writing with us!!

Thank you @mariannewest, I feel much better about it now. That is what I thought when I first started, but then it looked like some of the writers were very serious about the 5 minutes and I got a little worried that I was cheating.

Glad you feel better. You do what you do and it is great!! :)
