Prompt: pineapple

  • Set your timer for 5 minutes
  • Start writing
  • Use the hashtag #freewrite and #freewritepoetry if it turns out to be poetry
  • Publish your piece (include a link to this post if you wish)

Copy and paste your URL into the comment section of the prompt post.

If your freewrite turns into a poem, please use in addition to #freewrite also either #freewritepoetry or #freewritepoetrydigest so we can find you!

  • Or, if you don't want to publish your freewrite, just copy and paste as a comment under the prompt post.

If you don't know what a freewrite is, here is a link to the introduction post.

Here is @snook's excellent tutorial on how to join our freewrite adventure

And @improv's input:

Two things I do a little differently. I just type "timer" into google and it pops up a 5-minute timer. I also type directly into steemit. I also rarely use a photo, don't I? So that's three things.

Please read, comment and vote (if you have voting power) on each others freewrites as much as you can. Especially if you are new to the platform, you will be surprised how many friendships are formed by reading and commenting on each other's work!

Let's Do Community!!!

As many of you know, we have a Spanish speaking Freewrite effort going on. The fearless leader is @latino.romano who is putting a lot of effort into building the Spanish language community. Thank you!!

But that is not what I want to talk about today. I want to talk about Venezuela.
If you listen to the news at all, you know that the country is having a lot of difficulties right now - and many are suffering.

I know that we can't change the country or help all that are suffering right now. But we can help our Freewrite Community members - at least a little bit.
Please, upvote the following people as often as you possibly can!

@oscarina
@jakim7
@latino.romano
@teresah
@seifiro
@dranuvar

And try to sponsor them into SBI.

Freewrite.png

  • We are thinking of doing a collaboration workshop on how to get a manuscript ready for publishing. Let me know if you are interested - both, to either share your expertise and/or to learn... Starting in either December or January.

Freewrite.png

If you have a business on Steem you want to share, let me know. I will start a dedicated section in the resource portion of the prompt posts.

Freewrite.png

Spanish Freewrite Initiative

The Daily Prompt is now also being published in Spanish and a Spanish language community is forming.

@latino.romano is the leader of the community and I am sure, he would love for you to stop by and say hello - in any language. If you are bilingual, please feel free to publish you freewrite in both languages and drop the link at both Daily Prompt posts.

Está publicada la versión en español de hoy @latino.romano

Writing help

  • A free app: Grammarly. A lot of us are not native English speakers and I am finding it a helpful app. It will underline spelling and grammar mistakes. Just remember that is is not always right -especially if you use complex sentence structures. Here is the link

  • Remember The Most Dangerous Writing App. You set the time - 5 min - and start typing. Don’t stop!!! It will destroy what you wrote if you stop for more than 3 seconds - and backspace does not count as writing on the app. If you are prone to stop and think - this app forces you to keep going. You can make corrections after the 5 minutes are over.

  • A timer. Egg timer is a free tool you can use on your desktop to set a time. This is useful for our freewrites or if you want to work in blocks of time and then take a break. Here is the link

  • I found this app through @emwalker. Use it regularly and it will help you type faster and more accurately. [10 fast fingers](https://10fastfingers.com/typing-test/english

  • The discord channel Isle of Write has workshop rooms for fiction, non-fiction, and poetry where some of the experienced writers might be able to give some tips. Join with this link https://discord.gg/zfXNRnK

  • If you are ready to get serious about improving your understanding of the English language check out @majes.tytyty blog. He has lots of useful information to understand words and their roots better. If you have questions or need help, leave a comment on his blog.

  • If you know of other helpful tools or people, please share with us!

Money

There are many contests on Steemit. From art to music to writing and everything in between. Enter as many as you can!! And take advantage of the free money people give away I listed in the money section below.

There are several people who offer SBD for free on this platform! How great is that!!

Here are a few

  • @steemexplorers gives away an SBI unit almost daily. Check out their profile for more info.
  • @scrooger has a great "help the minnows" project. It is so easy!! Visit his profile for details.
  • @fisheggs - follow this account and you get upvotes at random times.
  • @sydesjokes - he rewards his followers with SBD for any kind of interaction with him- comment, vote, resteem.
  • @danielsaori - he does a comment contest. A new challenge every week.
  • @rexusmo - I think a few of you have started to leave links to your post. Every day, he has a cheering up post. You leave a link to a post you are proud off and you might get a reward. Keep trying!!
  • If you have less than 100 SP give this a try. @thedarkhorse is running a weekly contest for a delegation for newbies who have less than 100 SP in their wallet. Visit his profile for the latest contest post.

These options cost you a little bit, but your return is manyfold and I highly recommend that you consider them.

  • @qurator is an initiative to support steemians who post good content. There is an initial sign up fee of 4 Steem. Your account will be checked and if approved, you will make that 4 steem back in the first month through qurator upvotes. Check their account and discord for more details.

  • @thundercurator is a human resteem and upvote service. Check out their posts for more details.

  • @alliedforces is a bitbot that is designed for small accounts and you never lose. They also are major supporters of the Freewrite House and we are very grateful for that!!

I liked this pineapple story, I was provoking to my curiosity, seemed silly but at the same time made you ponder on the circumstances of the pineapples themselves. I did feel a little guilty of the lonely pineapple but at the same time, the third pineapple seemed more young, confused and need of affection too. I feel bad that the lonely pineapple couldn't recognize that the third pineapple wanted to same and maybe more which they could of helped each other.
The second pineapple reminded me of a sorta annoyed mother like figure.
Now after typing this out, I sorta see the pineapples as a mother, father and child idea.
The father didn't want to be left alone, the mother pineapple was annoyed with her kid and the kid wanted the affection of the mother pineapple while the father could have provided such.
Very interesting...

Hey @v3n0mmang.

Lately when I write something creative, I have this thing for seriousness and absurdity, and sometimes, it's hard to know which is which and where any of it is going. This pineapple story is definitely one of them. You have the obvious silliness of pineapples feeling anything, wondering anything, being suddenly attracted, having a child, etc., and then you have somewhat of a morality play leaking out, if you can get past the melodrama. It appears you did. :)

Welcome to the freewriters!! It is often interesting what comes flowing out of us in a freewrite.

Hey, @mariannewest.

Guess it's time to get back into the freewrite groove. What better way to do it but with pineapple as the prompt? :)

The Odd Tale Of The Lonely Pineapple

So glad that you are back!!

Well, thank you. I can tell already I'm going to bring some odd silliness with me, if this entry and the one for today (Wednesday) is any indication. :)

Ohhh goodie!! We love silliness 😂

So I went to do my first day of helping with prompt delivery, but looks like @carolkean beat me to the punch. 😂💕

Here is my #freewrite for today!! 😁
https://steemit.com/fiction/@kaelci/adishbestservedvengefullyafive-minutefreewrite-9jy5yj6hw0

I saw that - and I didn't even know that she was interested in doing it LOL I love it when we have more willing bodies LOL

Yay!!

I did it! My first thought was "Pineapple? Really?" but my second thought was "That antique bed in the guest room. Those are pineapple finials. I'm sure of it." I have photo evidence now. Alas, my mom's doilies are buried somewhere, or I'd show those off. She is an amazing Spider Woman when it comes to counting stitches In her head having memorized the instructions to crocheting doilies. I am in awe. I am humbled. And here is the 5-times-50 minute freewrite:

Here is my response for today's freewrite. I hope you all like it :)

Also, I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but the space after the @ in the adoptee section makes it not a link to my account. Thank you again for adopting me for the week :)

If you'll permit me, I am going to challenge myself to stay in the same story for all the 5-minute Freewrite Prompts for the month of February! Let's see how this turns out...

So... how did it taste? Ate the whole pie?

It was fabulous. I actually enjoyed it 4 days this year. 💕

My attempt after few days break. Was tired after the Chinese New Year Celebration. Hope to be back to daily freewrite.

https://steemit.com/freewrite/@iamjadeline/pineapple-or-5-minute-daily-freewrite-by-mariannewest-8baf23af6864f

And I am hoping to visit next year where Chinese New Year is celebrated enough to exhaust people LOL

hahaha Now I know why everyone posted about pineapple. (Y) Wish I could join one day when the daily prompt is more relevant to me~~ :D

Well, get started. Every prompt is relevant to you - even if what comes to your mind is - nothing about this ...(insert prompt word of the day)... comes to mind but I started thinking about how much fun it would be to go for a walk and show you my neighborhood.... or nothing comes to mind but I am eating this delicious soup and it is....

You see, with a freewrite, you are truly free. And there is always something going on in our brains . LOL

Does this mean it doesn't matter if I don't Include the prompt word?

Posted using Partiko Android

if you don't include the prompt word - include a link to the prompt post in your writing so we know that you actually were inspired by the prompt - even if you thoughts went somewhere completely different. I.e. maybe you know someone who is allergic to pineapple and had to go to a hospital to get treated. So, when you read pineapple - you think hospital and what you saw someone do in the parking lot. that is what you are writing about (which really has nothing to do with pineapple but your mind went there triggered by the word.) You don't have to explain how you got there - maybe you don't know yourself - but let us know that reading the prompt triggered the story. And letting us know can be as simple as linking to the prompt post. Also, make sure to drop a link to your post in the comments.

Thanks! This is very helpful:)! It will be much easier for me hehe
