Day 627: 5 Minute Freewrite: Tuesday - Prompt: stale pepperoni pizza

in freewrite •  5 years ago  (edited)

Rodney Conway came home in a bad mood. His team lost the baseball game in the little league all because Tom Porter was pitching so badly. Phooey!

He opened the refrigerator, pulled out the piece of pepperoni pizza, smelled it and his face twisted in disgust. “Yak, staled… Goddamn! Not my day.” Rodney thought for a second, then threw the rejected piece into the garbage, sat his butt on the couch and turn on TV.

Little did he know that his garbage can, at that moment in time, became the hole in the space-time continuum. The stale piece of pepperoni pizza fell through the time and landed inside the German concentration camp Treblinka right in the hands of dying from hunger prisoner of war.

He looked into the sky as if asking God for this immense favor. He ate it slowly, inhaling its heavenly aroma and savoring its taste. That piece saved his life.

We are very lucky to live in a time when more people die from obesity than starvation.

Yes, in many places, but how sad that today in my country deaths occur due to malnutrition.

What country are you from?

I love the twist at the end. So happy that the pizza didn't go to waste and ended up saving a man's life. : )

Thank you! Of what I read I like the story by @deeanndmathews the best. Cheers

A happy end after all, not for the pizza and since Rodney did not eat it he wasn't hungry. 😃💕

I wish he'd understand that having stale pizza isn't the reason to be upset. )))
