The Attic, Vinyl Records, Zombies and Tea (5 Minute Freewrite)

Prompt: The Attic

I make myself a cup of tea and take it up to the attic. There are treasures waiting for me. When I say treasure, I don't mean silver or gold. This is something far more precious. These treasures are in 2 brown boxes.

I take the knife, and I open them. Inside is a thing of beauty. Over two hundred vinyl records. They all have a plastic coverings; therefore all are in good condition.

Wow, so much to listen to.

This is what people listened to before being told Compact Discs were better.

However, there is a problem. I can see out into the garden and there are some Zombies approaching. Everyone knows that if you break the records in half and throw them at the Zombies, they will be destroyed.

Everyone also knows that breaking records, whilst not technically illegal, is perceived as one of life's sins. Something you never do.

What do I do? Break the records and kill the Zombies? Or think of something else.

But I can't think of anything else. Oh no! No! I can't! I can't do it. Noooooooooooo.

I take the records

I put them back in the box and seal it up. Maybe I have also sealed my own fate; but at least I have saved my records for future generations.

Luckily, I have a nice cup of tea to drink.
