Today started out being a beautiful morning, nail biting was far from my mind. This is Cat Island, I went there first but did not catch anything.
Next, I went to Summit Island and anchored on the southeast side. I caught one pompano there and also had this mess. It is a catfish and a conch.
These little puffy clouds started going by, but no reason to start nail biting
I can see the bad weather coming but no reason for nail biting, not just yet. You can see the cloud bank just off of the horizon.
Something big hit my line and broke it, I lost a rig but I put a new one on and when I reeled the new rig in I caught the one I lost.
The weather is not looking very nice but still no nail biting.
I start thinking my time is about up, and wondering if I should start the nail biting.
Nail-biting has begun. But I will stay for a few more minutes.
I should not have stayed those few minutes. Nails are gone, I start pulling in all my lines and had one more to go and a HUGE ASS stingray got on it, here we go round and round the boat, the wind is now blowing 30 or more. I am anchored stern into it. While fighting the HUGE ASS stingray I had to get my stern anchor up, so I would pull the rope with one hand, step on the rope and pull more rope until I got the anchor to the top, all the while still fighting the HUGE ASS stingray. My boat swung around so now I am not sinking, me and MR HUGE ASS stingray go around the boat again. Finally, he got tired and I could lift him to the top and get the hook out. I took this picture before I started picking up my poles and the weather was not bad yet.
Before the rain hit I took this picture, I was having to ride the waves like a surfboard, trying to stay on top of the wave, if I went over it my bow would nosedive, so I kept adjusting my speed so I would not go over the waves.
It was even rough as crap up the creek.
I saw my husband under the US1 bridge and he took my cooler of fish so we both did not have to drive to the fish house. I did not get a picture of my fish but he said I had 21 pounds and he had 32. So all in all we had a good day. Minus the nail biting.

@inthenow thank you, I did not bite my nails but felt like I should have. The river can turn mean in a hurry.

I am seeing that your tendency to just stay a little bit too long is still with you LOL

@mariannewest Yes my tendency to stay to long is my downfall. lol I throw the stingrays back after getting the hook out. Some people eat them but I have never done it. It is strange, when I get one to the boat they calm down like they know I will help them by taking the hook out. That might just be me, but I feel that.

@mariannewest yes it is, sometimes they suck themselves to the bottom and then you are in a battle, it is like being hung until they want to move. So I try to keep them off the bottom.

@annephilbrick Thank you...I would have made it if it was not for having to fight the stingray. Nail-biting was the prompt for the freewrite, I do not really bite them.

@annephilbrick lol, don't bite em. When we use to catch a fish called pogies, I had the best nails they were hard and did not break like they do now, I think there was something in their slime that is good for nails, I use to tell my husband we should put the slime in bottles and sell it.

@redheadpei I have only sunk one time and I knew I was going down and ran the boat in as shallow of water as I could get it. It still sank but I jumped over and kept the motor from going under, I then got it bailed out and went down the shore collecting my coolers and everything else that floated away.
