Occasionally, in life, we get tested. By whom or what? Well, I guess that depends on your beliefs. I know who tests me. I also know(think) I probably fail most of those tests. It's okay, because in my heart I want to pass life's tests. Sometimes, I think that's enough. Today's test came when my driver's side mirror was kindly detached from my car. 😒

There's two ways to look at this. I could cry, curse, and scream! And, okay, maybe I did a little of that. In my head.

The other way to look at it is this, at least the person who did it told me about it. She happens to be my Aunt. I was at her house mentoring her disabled son- my cousin. She felt really bad. I felt really bad for her. She's been under a lot of stress lately. Mostly relating to my cousin.
The mirror actually came off pretty cleanly so it might be able to be reattached without having to bereplaced. I hope so. Fortunately, I have a friend who fixes cars for a living. I'll let him take a look at it first. In the mean time, I get to enter my car through the passenger side because the mirror is temporarily attached with duct tape. I wasn't thinking when I initially taped it so I can't open the door without pulling it apart. Fun times, indeed!
I found out this paint color hides duct tape almost as well as it hides dirt. 😡

I have had things like that happen to me a few times in my life lol, my very first time I said something that so lightened the moment and put the other party at ease that I have used it over and over. I just glanced at the damage as if it wasn't a big deal and said "It's okay man/bud/lady/name my car/truck needed a little more character anyway. The funny part is that if I'm the one that caused the damage I tend to get a totally different reaction from the owner lol. The way that I look at such things is that accidents are going to happen and most people try to be conscientious and avoid them, but things still happen. I do have a problem with people who live carelessly and have little regard for other peoples property, but I doubt that your Aunt falls into that category. 👍
Disclaimer: I've never had a lot of money and have only bought a couple of brand new vehicles, I mostly drive older model vehicles that are proven and reliable models, or were cheap lol. So miner bumps, scratches, and dents have rarely been that big of a deal for me.

I have definitely learned that. When I bought this car, brand new, I was bothered by every scratch and chip I saw in the paint. Then, one day, I pulled into a parking spot and scraped my bumper against concrete. Really bad. I didn't care about chips and scratches after that. It was actually a relief.

I read this before and I'm so sorry........but the duct tape was making me giggle so I could not write how sad I was for you..........
and I AM VERY SAD :( because if you have to really get it replaced they <<< the mean they, not the nice they............always find more wrong with your car.........that has nothing to do with the mirror..........
But for me...........there is NO WAY, in my car, I could get MY body from the passenger side to the drivers side in one piece and not look I had been through world war II
So look on the bright side? Your young and skinny enough to not have to take that beautiful duct tape off!!! :D

Just a thought. You come from Outer Space and I assume you all drive on the wrong side of the road. If you drove on the right side or the road, which is in fact the left side, then it would have been your passenger side that needed the duct tape.

That's rough! I know the feeling. I had my passenger side mirror taken off by a turkey. Yes, a turkey that flew into my car. I was so sad by the whole thing because not only did my car feel the pain but the turkey died from the impact. I was a blubbering mess. Scared the daylights out of me. This was long ago but still haven't forgotten it. So sorry to hear about this though, I hope it can be reattached easily!
