Gut Reactions

I am an expert in Gut Reactions. I didn't set out to be an expert in that. No siree I wanted to be an astronaut, then I wanted to be a mathematician, then a dancer, a baker, and ultimately a restaurateur. My career was in food. I loved cooking and baking, especially those sugary yummy gooey chocolatey things.

But then I was forced to become an expert in Gut Reactions, and that put an end to the sugary yummy gooey chocolatey things, and radically altered how and what I cook.

My middle child was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of eight. I took him to the best pediatric GI in NYC for eight years. This highly respected doctor essentially treated my son with prednisone, and wrecked his bones,, his adrenals, his muscles and his trust in his fellow human beings. That doctor also wrecked my respect for western medical professionals. There are now only a very few I trust.

I firmly believe that Gastroenterologists are doing us great harm, beginning with our children. They are prescribing antacids to newborn babies! Not one of them ever asks about gut reactions to food. Never. It's absurd. I'm still looking for one who recognizes the connection between what a patient eats and how symptomatic they are. If you know of one, please let me know.

Thank you for reading.

The image is of the prescription meds doctors prescribed for my children before I wised up to them. Keep in mind, these are the ones that are leftover. I was so stupid. And I don't know what to do with these.

Prednisone for a kid! Holy cow. I am so sorry to read this. That drug was really bad for me. I still take it a few times a month at 2.5 mg and then I am not in pain - but a big mess of emotions for days.

I forgot about Crohn's , but that is a bad one too. Keep trying the natural way. I think it is your best bet. fb has a lot of groups for support, and your local police might have a drop off for old pills.

I know about the pill drop off, but with so many people for whom the pills might be helpful, I don't want to give them up so easy. It's a tough decision. Maybe MSF could use them.

You have to be careful with that. I do not think you can give pills to others is most places.

Sorry to hear about your middle child. I don't know much about Crohn's disease although my son himself also have his own complication due to CDH. I would say, all the best to us parents, who consistently seek to find out the best for our children. I pray you will find the answer soon.

Antacid for babies? Maybe my innate arrogance served me well when dealing with doctors. I find some of their suggestions laughable. And if they can't answer all my questions with a sensible explanation I immediately leave.

It's a little harsh, but I think doctors get brainwashed in medical training rather than learn the art of medicine. I only know a handful I can trust.

This art has died in most of western medicine practitioners. Fortunately we have eastern medicine and naturopathy.

I'm glad you found your way out of that charade and now use food as your medicine. Steroids are nasty, I hope your son is now living his best life.

Oh I see now! You wrote that beautiful poem! I love that. Thank you for coming to my blog.
My son is living the life that he chose. I suppose that is the best life for all of us. How can we live anything else?

Hahaha, true and well said! We put so many conditions on how life should be don't we. :)

Yes, I am. I think I saw this re-steemed by c-squared. Then when I visited your blog I realised you were the one who wrote this article. Lol!

Sometimes we get a little overwhelmed with all the information traffic.

Enjoy your weekend. Cheers
