Cough Syrup and Cold drink. Prompt : syrup #freewrite

in freewrite •  7 years ago  (edited)

It was in the evening when I called my mother from hostel after my classes complaining about my chronic cough and because of that I couldn't get good sleep at night. As I didn't get enough sleep at night, I was having headache and was sleepy during lectures. As I was complaining all this to my mom, she asked me to take the cough syrup which I have with me.

I hate the taste of cough syrup and so I didn't have it since few days. As I couldn't bear the cough any longer, I now had to drink that syrup. So, to compensate the taste of cough syrup I went to cafeteria to buy a cold drink. I know that I shouldn't have bought it as I was already having cough but I couldn't stop myself from buying it.

So, now I had the cough syrup with my nose closed so that I couldn't have to taste the cough syrup. By now you might know how much I hate the taste of it. After drinking the cough syrup, I drank the cold drink which I have with me. After five minutes, I vomited and I still don't know the reason behind it. As a matter of fact, I don't eat or drink the items which led me to vomit.

So, from then on I stopped drinking cough syrup and cold drink.

Haha~ I relate to this somehow... I always kept a sweet things to change the taste of medicines whenever I get sick.

I think this story could be better formatted. Like dividing it into paragraphs, as readers don't like big chunks of text without line breaks.

The cough syrup is indeed too sweet and I don't like the taste of it.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll do it.

The post looks way better now!! I included this in my Daily Picks.

Last thing, I suggest avoiding watermarked pictures on your posts, because most of time they are watermarked for a reason.

Thank you. I will surely keep that in mind from next time. :)

Nicely written, though the sickness must have been ... well, really not great. I can totally relate to the last sentences, it's the same with me. When it comes to cough or bronchitis, I'm a fan of ginger and thyme :)

Thanks :)
I'll try ginger and thyme from now if I get cough.

To quote Mary Poppins, …..’Just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down’

I actually like cough syrup :P Although we would prefer not coming to it. Also, I agree on avoiding cold drinks. When I lived in Asia for almost 7 years, hot drinks is what prevented you from getting throat and sinus infections.

Oh, that wasn't fun at all!! Hope your cough got better without the syrup...

It did, eventually. Thanks for the concern.
