Describe your shoes.

Okay. The ones I'm currently wearing were a gift from my mom. Not a new gift, but a hand-me-down gift. At least three pairs of my shoes came to me this way. These ones are flip flops, or thongs. Growing up, I always called flip flops thongs. I didn't have a great awareness of the underwear called thongs, and I feel as if everyone around me called flip flops thongs. Now it seems like hardly anyone does, and I feel strange calling them that. These particular flip flops are about an inch high all around, so I feel tall, extra tall, when I wear them. And at the moment my toes are painted, which is rare, because I hate to do it myself. I took my sister out for pedicures when we were visiting Washington recently, so she could have especially prettied up toes for her wedding. I love getting a pedicure, and I enjoy having painted toenails. Now I'll do like I did the last time I got a pedicure, and keep the paint on until it grows out, cutting off little bits until its gone. Painted toenails are better than painted fingernails, because it doesn't chip and smudge and look awful within five minutes, which is what inevitably happens when I paint my fingernails. Perhaps if I got a manicure, it would be a different story, but I haven't had one in long enough to remember. I think I only ever had one, and even that is a faint enough memory that I'm not sure it is one. Brendan just walked in and stood directly in front of the fan and I just have that on the tip of my brain now. Sometimes five minutes feels long, though usually not. Now it does. So, toes. Hey, toes are funny, huh? Toes toes schmoes. Little toenails. I clipped Lochlan's nails today, all of them. We turn on something like a cartoon or kids' songs on YouTube and I clip while he's distracted.
