I need a steemit for dummies!

in freewrite •  7 years ago  (edited)

Seriously!

I don't get it.

I.

Don't

Get.

It.

Anybody knows of any post that makes it super simple to understand steemit????

Pretend I am 5 years old.

I floss my tears with a nail-polisher, for goodness sake.

Say whaaaat?

Oh nevermind, it's a freewrite exercise.

You task is to vent out for 5 minutes your frustration with a world you don't understand.

Then, you publish it on steemit, where angels cry cryptotears, and everybody else ignores your posts because they are too busy with their own.

It's a marvellous initiative, or if you are American, it is just marvelous.

You should try venting too sometimes.

Especially when it rains.

Like now.

In San Diego, California.

We have not seen rain in 5 months.

We danced a lot, invoking the rain Gods.

And nothing.

And now, it's the flood, and I forgot to build an Ark.

Lots of tears to floss now.

Is it 5 minutes yet?

Your turn.

Can you tell me something totally simple about how steemit works now?

I.

Really.

Need.

That.

You'll be alright. Everything is tough until you know what you're doing. And everybody feels the same way on here.
Keep going with the free write. Find the right people and you will make out in the end. As for rain, we have plenty of rain and i can tell you that i would rather the sun.

Thank you for the encouragement. rain is very rare here. if you'd rather have the sun, you can always move to Southern California. PS: bring buckets of water.

I was there for three weeks just last august and loved it. Hired a car with my friends and drove the coast. We survived, just about.

Good thing you were not driving in Italy, then. You may not have survived. Have you noticed that drivers are very corteous in California?

I didnt really pay attention to it. It was tough enough to survive the hangovers and stay on the wrong side of the road. That took up most of my attention.

Hahaha! You were the one driving on the wrong side of the road!!!
And, are you Irish?

I am. So i was definitely driving on the proper side.

Most definitely....backwards. :-)

One of the things I've learned is to go around to new posts and make comments related and give a link to your page at the end of it.. Seems to have helped because I keep getting followers and reputation points while I sleep! @lonestarpoet

Wow, I like getting a good reputation while I sleep. Let's see if it works with you.

Talking about sleeping, I really liked when somebody put me to sleep because of this!

Haha well done!!!!
I also like to say something like, "I have content similiar to this post, feel free to check it out link

Would absolutely love to read it, but your link does not link. It's an unlinky link. Would you mind giving me the link?

Hehe my link was a false link! It was only meant to act as a placeholder for a template as to how to link back to your page... y'know?

I'm no expert by far, but in my short time... I've found that it helps to joing in challenges that TRULY interest you.

Every time I make a post, I go to that category/tag/challenge and find other posts by people that I genuinely like and leave a comment and an upvote. I apparently upvote & comment about 10 times for every post I make.

Consistency, genuine interest/interactions and just writing/posting about what you are interested in is how you get started.

As far as making money? I have no idea. I've had craptastic posts make $100. and posts that I was really proud of make less than $1.00. I am starting to get more interaction and that is good as far as I'm concerned, because it means I'm making actual connections with other people and we really enjoy reading each other's posts and whatnot.

My husband is on here as well as a few of my kids and we're all having the hit or miss thing with posts, but it's satisfying as long as you're not going into it solely watching the $$$, you will do great.

As for the money side of things, I am working towards consistent quality and being real and hoping that the money side of things works itself out. As it is, I've still made as much, if not more, writing here and interacting than I would if I left the house to get a job (because I've been a stay at home mom for two decades, my job prospects aren't well paying anyway)

Love love love that you took the time to explain this! And, I understood. All of it! Great job!!

I've had several friends and a few of my kids join/want to join steemit so I've had to think about this process quite a bit :) I hope it helps!

It does, thank you!

Really an amazing post, don’t forget to visit my page and upvote. Thanks

What did you find amazing about it? ;-)

Love this! You and me both, as far as the steemit thing goes. I'm about to give up.

Wow, maybe hang in there a little longer. I am following you just in case you figure it out. Remember me when you are BIG on steemit, OK?

Don't give up....It's worth the work. Followed you! <3

You're doing great. Have you joined minnow support Peace, Abundance and Liberty chat? You can get a lot of questions answered in this place. Here's a link if you were interested.

How do you define "great?"

Thanks though.

That discord chat is unsettling. Every time I try to get on it I get discouraged.

You are sharing your heart. This is the first step to growth on steemit. Try not to be critical of your progress, and just learn as you go. Yes it is difficult in the beginning, but it is also very worth it. Have you tried the shallow end chat room? It's not as hard to assimilate in that room. There's also a quiet room that is not quite so fast-paced for new people. If you need help you can private message me and when I login we can chat. You can find me @wandrnrose7 there. I don't know all the answers, but I can help you with something that is troubling you.

Thank you so much! Somehow chats don't appeal to me......

Even those on the phone.

Sometimes even face to face......

I feel the same way about every discord chat except for steemitbloggers and the Isle of Write. I don't know how to invite you there, but those are welcoming and good without requiring a lot of 'chat' time (because I hate chat.

Ha! I just wrote the same feeling of not liking chats before I saw your comment.

You spoke my mind @thisgirl. Fellow newbie here. Thanks @wandrnose7 for the link, finally got some lead. For now I'm checking new post and doing comments.

You just joined, invictuz, you are supposed to not understand anything. I have been hanging around one month. One month of not having a clue is a bit too much!

Haha, I read a lot or maybe I just have too many hours to spare. Having BPO background also helps. Good luck to us! My goal really right now is just to keep doing comments hopefully along the way this will all make sense.

Let me know when it does!

the idea behind steemit is the biggest change in digital content since internet. I don't mean steemit, but the whole idea behind ;) and you are a very early adopter of it. good luck!

Thanks, maybe just because I am in earlier it will be a good thing.....even if I have no clue.

At this phase, yes. The rewards will continue to show up, STEEM is a cryptocurrency that has a modest inflation, but influence via steem power will become harder to come by as more content creators will flood when there is even greater mainstream adoption. There are people out there that do this kind of thing for a living that can bring a big following with them (more people is always good!!!) but they will likely have a quick jump in following. Invest time in finding people that make quality content in your interest areas, follow and interact and as new people within your niche stumble upon that person's work, the newcomer may stumble upon yours (perhaps because they resteemed your awesome post?).

Thanks. It feels...a bit hopeless right now.

Keep asking questions to seek the answers. I encourage you to understand blockchain technology and its other applications, to support your decision making on how much time to invest in steemit. This platform is made to be the easiest way to get mainstream people like you and I into cryptocurrency and I think its successful, when you feel comfortable working with the platform. Check out the tag or #steem-promo as there is a lot of good introductory/definition content

Awesome, thanks, heading right over!
