I read an article a while ago. It's a documentary of an African tribe where women are allowed to lay claim to the men of their choice. The men do not have a say.
I like to read about the culture of different tribes. It's interesting and amazing and shocking.
Sometimes i wonder if i would partake in the culture if i was born there. I wouldn't. I would have been that rebel.Anyway, I deviate.
In the tribe, five or more women can lay claim to the same man. Here's where it gets crazy,the men in the tribe then fix a date for an occasion to finalize which of the women gets the man.
In this occasion the women are called out, flogged on their bare backs countless of times. The whips tearing,scalding,scarring and peeling their skins. This is their ritual. The ritual is to prove their love for the man. The strongest of them goes home with the man.
This still remains unfathomable for me.

I love to learn about different cultures too and the one you wrote about was definitely a shocker. I would probably be a single woman in this case.
