What a difference two months on Steem make!
This second adoption (Thank you!) has been very different from my first. @mariannewest has noticed that the interest in adoption has dropped off, and I can tell you I experience the same over here on the adoptee end of things. Although I appreciate the auto upvotes and the moola that comes with them, my primary joy on Steem comes from interaction with others through their comments, and this time I am getting very few of those which suggests I am being read very little. I have some thoughts and ideas about this that I would like to contribute.
First, when I consider how much time I am spending writing and commenting on freewritehouse pieces, I am struck by how much time the core members must be spending on all these challenges, blog posts, notifications, upvotes, reading, comments and general administration of everything. Hats off to those of you who are driving this wonderful community! You've got your daily freewrites, your weekend freewrites, your favorite freewrites, your #mmfan rewards, your literary talent award, your alerts for the daily prompts, your support of every new writing community and contest and challenge that comes up on steem, and I am sure I am missing some things here. It's a lot! I try to keep up with them all, but I simply can not. I imagine you guys have an even tougher time doing that IDEA #1 fewer things going on at once!
Second, it is March Madness! What I said above goes quadruple for the Madness Month! Many of us have been devoting a lot of time to reading and following as many of these fabulous stories as we can, and I've been commenting a whole lot, since my upvote is nearly worthless and my resource credits abundant. This, on top of trying to write each day myself, is quite time consuming. IDEA #2 Several other contests could be suspended for the Madness Months so that we can all mostly concentrate on supporting those cray cray writers.
Third, I love the contests/challenges across Steem that reward comments. Freewritehouse does this too. I'm just starting to be aware of those and have been engaging in them as much as I can. I for one would happily forego my rewards as adoptee and give those instead to the readers of and commenters on my writings, which I feel often go nearly completely unread. I've made sure my kids know where my Steem password is so that at least they can read them someday. Knowing how valuable a comment is to me, I assume they are just as important to the Mad Writers, perhaps even more given all the work that goes into their stories. IDEA #3 More rewards for comments on March Madness and Adoptee blog posts.
That's it for my ideas. Now a tiny bit about me. Back then, I was posting through Steemit only, and I see now I missed a bunch of the comments folks left for me. Sorry for my lack of response to @blacklux, @jayna, @wonderwop, @kaerpediem, @mariannewest, @botefarm. You and probably others left comments I totally missed. Today I am again using Steemit because Steempeak is making me log in over and over again (@mariannewest - now I see what you were talking about! It's horrible! Get it together please Steempeak!)
In conclusion, because I've gone on long enough, I love you guys!

I wish my life allowed more time for my steeming activities, but it's been hard to just work a full day and commute an hour each day. I miss so many great posts from all of you. Life keeps throwing me curve balls either in the physical realm or personal and at times my energy depletes once I punch out at work and drive. I'm grateful for all my commentors, too. The encouragement is priceless. I'm here to continue to be encouraged by other writers and artists and so thankful for the @freewritehouse members. This community is invaluable amongst steemit for their tireless work often unrecognized by larger communities here, but @mariannewest continues to push us to grow and become more involved all around. Keep writing and I'm glad to know your here!

Thank you for reading and commenting! I need to get over to you more often. I've loved what I've read of yours.

I'm retired and I still don't have enough time to post, comment, play Steem Monsters, and I hate that I can't do all I can here. Hopefully it all works out. 🙏

My eyes are too big for all the wondrous things here. It has been life changing, but I'm mostly freewriting and little else. Can't imagine doing all that other stuff, and be a favorite Uncle too.

March Madness certainly might have something to do with it. Or maybe just March and the weather getting nicer and many are outside.
Then, there is the Twitter campaign. Many freewriters are busy with that.
Could be so many reasons.
Btw. I give the March Madness writers upvotes on the comments they leave with their link at the March Madness post.
Fewer contests are one answer - on the other hand, different contests bring a different set of people. Right now, it is fewer since I am out of time 😀 At least I can’t spend as much as I have in the past...
Thank you for your input.

I don't even know about the twitter campaign! so much to do. I have no idea how you do it! but thanks for it it has enriched my life enormously. I hope I didn't sound like I was complaining!

no, no. Not complaining. And points I am thinking about since I am constantly behind with Freewritehouse stuff - meaning, there is too much for right now. At the same time, when we offer less contest - less activity on everything else - like you are feeling right now...
Haven't figured it out yet LOL

No, no, you didn't sound like you were complaining!! I went through a flurry-phase of commenting and upvoting and it didn't seem to result in any more comments on my own posts, so I lapsed into a hermit mode for a while. This is true for so many of us: my primary joy on Steem comes from interaction with others through their comments, and this time I am getting very few of those which suggests I am being read very little. So many writers have told me to WRITE and not keep tabs on whether or not anyone READS what I write. That is a difficult concept for me. We want to be heard. Why, why, why, do I imagine I need to be heard?? My parents and sisters begged me to stop talking at the dinner table from the time I was age six. My children were no different (alas!) - they discouraged my commentary. I was never into the monologue; I sought to inspire DIALOGUE; it just didn't happen. So we come here in search of other writers and kindred souls who have something to say and hope someone wants to hear it. There are SO MANY people at Steemit - it's so hard to keep up!! But you are absolutely one of my #1 favorites. :) Keep writing!!

Have you looked into GINAbot? That may help keep track of notifications for you. I use both that, and the partiko app, so I have a good record of comments and other things. Though that still doesn't mean I get back to all of them perfectly.
Steembounty maybe a decent way to do comment rewards on adoptees posts. I'm not sure how viable that would be, as it would be more expensive, but it definitely would work. Maybe 1 steem on 1 post a day?

This was almost like reading my own thoughts. In the beginning of my joining and up until last Spring I almost gave up on Steem. Many fellow freewriters/freewritehouse kept encouraging me, along with a few others. I somewhat shrugged off not getting noticed and tried to work harder. One of my best stories was about Chozzy and it held the attention of many until life went chaotic and I stopped the story.
There are so many of us, and many posts that it is so hard to keep up. I feel bad about not catching everyone and or commenting on each one. I was told partiko is great for getting notifications on comments but my phone does not desire yet another new app. I enjoy what I have read of your stories, so don't give up. We are right here for you sista'

There are so many people I want to support on steem, but I find navigating steem very cumbersome so I can't get to them all without neglecting everything else in my life. I have been reading and commenting for hours of everyday (which turned out to be more lucrative than posting my own stuff into the void) and still feel like I can't get to folks who may have gotten used to my being there for them, especially the March Madders. This is the mother in me, wanting to take care of people. I'm going to have to get over that I guess. thank you for stopping by!

No worries. I understand. Been away from Steem almost all week. I will return soon. :)

I'm guilty of reading but not commenting, and because I am like that, I like to assume the same of others... but at the same time, Steemit used to have a "page viewed # times" counter at the end of each post... and the number was usually VERY small. When I first joined, it confounded me how a post with $20 and 400 upvotes could have only be seen two or three times... then I learned about the autovotes and whatnot.
Sigh.
I'm so very busy at the moment too. I'm trying to do March Madness but have fallen behind. One of my wisdom teeth needs to be seen desperately but I can't afford it until July when I get my tax return. The pain is hard to think through sometimes. My son is at an age now where we're go-go-go-go most of the time. Then there's my study and my partner in the US who gets the majority of my free-time of an evening. Life!!
I made a pact with myself this year to comment more on steemit... so far I have. Kind of. No where near as much as I'd like, but I'm trying to be here there and everywhere a little bit more.
Sorry, this post sent me into self-reflection, haha! With your ideas - I love how there is soooo much going on at once. There's always something to pick and choose what to do! :D I have nooo idea how our @freewritehouse leaders cope with it all. Also, with March Madness, it was definitely more of a "thing" in November when it was done alongside NaNoWriMo. Back then I ended up with two main #madfans who I appreciated immensely. Two people regularly reading and commenting, it was amazing. I've been trying to give my fans the biggest upvote I can manage which at the moment is 60% and about 8 cents because I'm also trying to reward all the other mad writers. I was originally giving the other writers 100% but I was drained SO FAST, so now writers get 50% and the fans 60%. I bought a recent delegation solely for March Madness and rewarding people... still not enough! (should've bought more! And I probably still wouldn't be pleased with it, haha. I need to be a whale already)
Babble babble babble. I'll just be moving along now, haha.
I'm sorry @Steempeak is being annoying! I get logged out every couple of days, which irritates the heck out of me, but is manageable. Usually.

Stop by and babble anytime you like!
To participate on Steem a great deal of energy has to be spent deciding how to allocate funds, how to accrue funds, how to attract upvotes with value, whose posts to comment on in order to get a bit of moola, how to enter contests with moola for prizes etc. For a while I was happy to do this, it was a bit addictive actually, but then I got tired of that being my focus. There is so much valuable content being generated here! Much of it just gets lost in the race to make Steem a more valuable crypto and to get more of it for oneself. I am conflicted about that aspect of Steem.
My 100% upvote isn't even worth a half a cent yet, so I just do it for the warm and fuzzy I hope it gives the receiver. I try to follow it up with a comment to but, as you have said, I don't always have the time.
