Running in Place - A Freewrite Poem

Woke the beast from dreamless sleep
T'was a night of pale cold light
White fur flashed like frozen wind
That fateful day she first took flight

Does Promise beckon her strive forth
Does Fear pursue her from astern?
Her piercing howl the moon forgot
The icey air in her breath burn

She ran and ran with all her might
Of where she was she knew no trace
Her soul shone in her tear-glazed eye
She knew, she knew, she ran in place

No start, no goal
  An endless ether
No end in sight
  No stopping either
O endless echo
  Is there an Other?
A voice, a kindred,
  A stir of laughter?

Her lonely cry
  in a never-ending dive:
"I am here... I am here!
      ...I am alive!
"

This is for the prompt running in place. This of course took well longer than 5 minutes (I seem to be breaking the rules a lot lately, haha ). Loosely inspired by this song

Excellence in poetry. I fully enjoyed the rich imagery.

Does Promise beckon her strive forth
Does Fear pursue her from astern?
Her piercing howl the moon forgot
The icey air in her breath burn

Thank you, you're too kind!

My pleasure.
