Fridays Rock

in fridaysrock •  6 years ago  (edited)

I purchased this rock at a moving sale for $1.00. The woman told me that she used to own a jewelry store and she used various rocks in her displays. Since she no longer owned the store she didn't see any value in the rocks that she had and I was able to buy several really nice ones for very little money.

I need help from my rockhound friends to tell me about this one, since I know nothing about it!

I'm not 100% but it reminds me of a geode. I'm more of a find it on the ground kinda rockhound but hey, finding that for $1 on a shelf is just as good since it's probably worth more! :)

I'll take them where ever I find them! 😀

Very cool! It is so fun when you come across something that you know is a great bargain!!

I got a big chunk of petrified wood from her also. I was quite happy!

Looks like a variation of calcite. Awesome find for $1!

Thanks! I looked up calcite, but couldn't find one that looked like mine. The woman was selling her condo... I didn't like her condo, but was glad that I got to go through her garage when I went to look at it!

no clue what it is but it looks like mold to me 😂 id name it moldy rocks

Ha! Good to hear from you!

🍷😁🌹

Nice rock! I can't help at all with identification. Leave it to @melinda010100 to know not one but FOUR different contests. I think you know everyone ha ha

Rock friends are good ones to have! Eric told me that those clusters are calcite.

I'm always amazed by how many people I have never come across before! There are so many more people here to meet yet!

Nice photos @melinda010100, can't help you identify them,
Although one resembles a Geode, and I thought I saw
Some fossils in another. 100% upvote.

Hi Jerry. You are back? Or still here? I remember seeing a post where you were mad and said you were leaving. I just assumed that you had. Eric answered the question that I had about the rock. It is calcite. Thanks for the vote.

Hi Melinda, I never really left, but just cut way back on my posts
For a while, still not back up to the level where I was at one
Time, and still very disillusioned with Steemit.
Am in Weku which is paying better, but the
Pay is in WKD, which atm have no value.
It is like the wild west over there also
With no sheriff in town. So right
Now, even if the move would
Make little sense, I want
My money from steemit
If I can find a simple
Way to do so.
Thanks for stopping by my friend.

Good luck to you!

btw...
There is at least one cemetery within walking distanceof where I live,.
I intend exploring there, as soon as I can, or after my surgery.
I'll share the resulting images and tag you when I get them.

information is very important for me and for other beginners, well I will try to use this tag
Success greetings from @itikna09

Fridaysrock is just for photos of rocks. Are you using esteem app? You can search the tag and see all the other posts that have used it. That way you will know what sort of things you could be posting to the tag. Does that make sense?

I use the esteem application, well I'll look for it @melinda010100

Nice collections of rocks in low price.

Thanks! It is certainly not one I would ever find here!

looks like a great find to me

I was pleased to take it off her hands!

This stone is very beautiful, it looks like there is a ray of light. Can we make this stone for ring eyes?

It is not very hard and probably would not hold up well in a ring. There are much better stones for jewelry!

If indeed this stone doesn't last well for the ring eye, why do you buy it, maybe there are other uses ?

Or indeed you buy it just for display ?

I love rocks! This one functions as a book end and keeps books from tipping over on the shelf!

In Aceh ..., generally these stones are used for jewelry such as ring eye jewelry.

So when I read the story of you buying this stone, I thought you would make this stone for ring eyes.

🙂🙂🙂

It is not a gem. Just a pretty rock!

🙂👍🙂

My family and I are rock collectors, although probably not in the same category as you. We collect at least one rock from everywhere we have lived and some places we have visited, although that is frequently frowned upon! :)

One of my personal favorites are the river rocks that I got in Arizona. I had never seen rocks with swirly colorful patterns and I was instantly smitten!

Totally!

Love to see more collectors of rocks!

!tip

I love my AZ rocks, too! Jim told me he would need to buy a bigger truck to haul home all the Rocks I was collecting out there! Thanks for the tip.

I know! They had some of the coolest rocks!!!!
