While digging in Abbeville I pulled this large crystal out of the side of a dirt wall. I found a cluster of downed trees and went through their roots and found it. I have noticed trees bind to crystals underground and when trees upturn you can get to these crystals. I wonder if the roots and crystals work together in some way.
So far this is the biggest and most amazing cluster I have found yet, hoping if I dig for a few more years ill find another one to beat this one.

Yeah it sure is a keeper, I have found many small coin sized pieces up to golf ball sized crystals but this one by far is the most massive.

Nice find @solominer. Tree roots are interesting. Out here in California they are known to hold gold nuggets in them. No one is sure if the roots grow around them or if the nuggets get trapped during floods.

Oh nice, California has those big nuggets. We just have gold dust is hard rock and have to use acids to get them out for the most part. Or pan for it on the river.
Good to know tree roots do that to nuggets too, I think many experienced rockhounds go for tree roots as we mentioned.
