If only you will listen to me
Not everyone was meant to be your friend
Some people are better off from afar
Never allow them come close

Sometimes they see you from afar
They try all they can to get close to you
The moment you allow them close to you
They take everything for granted

When they see you from afar they will respect you
When they see you from afar they will honour you
When they see you from afar they will smile at you
But allow them come close they will despise you

Before I grow up to become a man
My father once told me this
‘Familiarity breeds contempt’
Be careful of who you make your friend

Keep your circle few
Loyalty is everything
If you see that in anyone
Keep them closer

Never try to please anyone
It is okay to say no some times
Never try to smile when you don’t mean it
Be nice but don’t be a fool

Where do enemies come from?
Where do haters come from?
It is from among same people
You once called friends

Sometimes it is better to keep the distance
Because that will maintain the respect
Be your own friend first
Before looking for a friend in someone else

It is okay if everyone has a ‘bestie’ and you don’t have
It is okay if everyone has a ‘bff’ and you don’t have
Life is not a photocopying machine
Do not copy the lifestyle of others.
