Using the Steem Voter service (https://steemvoter.com) I discovered through @minnowbooster, you can always make sure that you upvote posts from certain authors (I like voting for my friends).
You can set your vote strength, and time delay for the upvote. Since I have turned it on a day or so ago I haven't missed any of their posts.
The people that I am currently auto-upvoting are: @blervin, @kommienezuspadt, @mada, @mad.dawg, @tarotbyfergus, @treigh-c, and @vermillionfox.
