One of the weirdest ways that I've made a few fast friends at work has come from an entirely selfish decision.

A few months ago, I thought I had accidentally left my gaffer gloves on a set that I wasn't returning to. It was after a seventeen hour day, and I had just put the gloves in a different pocket of my bag; but, I immediately bought a second pair. Ya don't wanna be handling hot lights without gloves.

So, now I just carry a spare pair with me every work day.

As summer hit, some psychos still decided that they wanted to some stuff outside in the Arizona heat. A lot of people in different departments don't have to worry about handling hot objects all day. Usually, you don't need gloves to handle truss or push cases or whatever; but, if they've been sitting in the Arizona sun for hours on end, it's like putting your hand on a stove top.

So, it's been a regular thing this summer that I would lend my gloves to somebody else on set and been able to save a person's day.

It's kinda nice.
