From the Hills of Karnali to the Halls of Justice: My Journey as a Youth Advocate" is a story of transformation, resilience, and advocacy. Growing up in the remote hills of Karnali, I witnessed firsthand the socio-economic challenges faced by marginalized communities—poverty, lack of infrastructure, child marriage, and limited access to education and healthcare. These experiences shaped my understanding of systemic inequalities and inspired me to take action. My journey as a youth advocate began with grassroots initiatives such as the Provincial Youth Policy Dialogue and Youth Fest in Karnali, where I worked to raise awareness about critical issues like misinformation, reproductive health rights, and the empowerment of marginalized groups, including Dalits, women, and LGBTIQ+ communities.
Education played a pivotal role in my journey. I realized that awareness and legal knowledge could be powerful tools for change. As Nepal transitioned from monarchy to federal democracy, I saw both opportunities and challenges in advocating for justice in a post-conflict landscape. Delays in transitional justice and ongoing human rights violations highlighted the need for youth participation in policymaking and grassroots movements. Despite facing barriers such as societal resistance, lack of resources, and institutional inefficiencies, I remained committed to my vision of an inclusive Nepal where every voice is heard.
My journey from local activism in Karnali to pursuing legal education has been fueled by a desire to address systemic inequalities through legal advocacy. I believe that empowering youth as agents of change is essential for building a just society. By combining grassroots activism with legal tools, I aim to contribute to a future where justice and equality are not just ideals but realities for all. This journey is not just mine—it is a testament to the potential of young people everywhere to transform their communities and create lasting impact.
