Durian is the name of tropical plants originating from Southeast Asia, as well as the name of the fruit that can be eaten. This name is derived from the characteristic skin of his fruit is hard and sharp curves that resemble a thorn. The popular title is "king of fruit" (King of Fruit), and durian is a controversial fruit.
Although many like it, others are sick of the scent. In fact, plants with durian names are not a single species but a group of plants of the Durio clan. However, what is meant by durian (without any affix) is usually Durio zibethinus. Other types of edible durians and sometimes found in the local market in Southeast Asia include lai (D. kutejensis), dependence (D. oxleyanus), turtle durian or kekura (D. graveolens), and lahung (D dulcis). Hereinafter, the description below refers to D. zibethinus.
There are many local names. Most names are found in Borneo, which refers to different varieties and species. Durian in Java is known as duren (Javanese, Betawi) and kadu (Sundanese). In Sumatra is known as durian and duren (Gayo language). In Sulawesi, Manado people call it duriang, while the Toraja people duliang. On the eastern island of Seram is called rulen.
The center of durian diversity is the island of Borneo. The surrounding areas also have some durian germplasm, such as Mindanao, Sumatera, and Peninsular Malaya though not as abundant as Kalimlantan. Nonetheless, the main exporter of durian is Thailand, which is capable of developing high quality cultivars and good cultivation systems. Other places that cultivate durians with export orientation are Mindanao in the Philippines, Queensland in Australia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, India and Sri Lanka.
Each 100 g of seed coat contains 67 g of water, 28.3 g of carbohydrate, 2.5 g fat, 2.5 g protein, 1.4 g fiber; and has an energy value of 520 kJ. Durian also contains lots of vitamin B1, vitamin B2, and vitamin C; as well as potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Because of the strong smell, some companies forbid people from carrying durians, such as in an airplane cabin, in public transport vehicles or taken to a hotel. For fans of durian, so as not to cause unpleasant things with people who do not like the smell of durian, it is believed there is an easy way to remove the smell of durian in the fingers and mouth.
The fingers are cleaned by stirring the water in the durian portion (ie the inner fruit peel, where the meat and the durian seed are attached) and the water is not removed, but used to rinse. According to many stories that develop in society (urban legend), Durian is considered as a hot food, and after eating durian body will usually sweat. The common way used to overcome this is to pour fresh water on the skin of fruit that has been empty, then drunk.
In addition, durian season usually occurs in conjunction with the mangosteen season, the fruit that is considered cooling the body. Thus, the two fruits are then eaten together. Scientifically, the above claims have never been proven. Chances are that because of the solid nutrient content of the durian, people who eat durian often eat most so that eventually experienced an increase in blood pressure. It is a natural reaction to eating too much food. Here are 7 Properties of Durian Fruits to Replicate:

Haha yes I remember them well from my days growing up in Singapore. The smell is something incredible and I remember the old joke about Durian breath. (If you want one you will have bad breath for about 1 week ha ha ). Had I known they were so nutritious I probably would have eaten them more. Thanks for sharing 😊😊
