Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception Vocation Promotion

The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (FSIC) was founded by Msgr August Wachter mhm in 1936. With the help of Mother Rose Charnley fmsj, the first four novices – Cecilia Ho, Stephanie Malaim, Theresa Thien and Marie Thien – made their first profession on 20 June 1941 in Sandakan.

They were founded primarily for the local Church through catechetics, education, homes, hostels and pastoral care. They have 34 communities in Sabah, one each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

Their generalate is located at Loreto Convent Dontozidon. They were granted autonomy in 1955.
