STEEM Full Nodes - Storage & The future

in full-nodes •  8 years ago

We could build a super-simple app that work as a full-node and reward full-node users for storage and play with some new ideas.

If we can have say 100,000 full nodes running around the world, our network would be very fast to sync up
even 10,000 nodes or 1000 nodes.

Say in the beginning you would earn 1 steem per day or something, instead of routing promoted posts to the NULL account, they could go to a storage fund/faucet.

Full-node providers could then earn 2 steem per day and 3 steem per day etc... Depending on how long they have been providing this service to incentivise long term commitment.

The issue would be the cost of running the nodes
steems not at a value that really is worth keeping it running
well at least for the time being

Well, we could with the Full-Node concept build in more value as we can play with the idea of open up for paid storage for video-files that could be embedded in a steem-blog and by that avoid corporate censorship like youtube and facebook.

What sort of hardware is needed for a node? Would this cover the running costs?

the hardware requirement atm are fucking ridiulous

I love the idea. I think this could be promising.

Is there a good tutorial on setting up a steemit full node? I am wondering if the getloci.com community would benefit. It is an idea worth exploring. If our users need a blogging outlet then it would make sense to host a full node to be able to give back to the community while supporting our own users.

Well, you know... We could have a million posts per day on the STEEM-Network, and storage would become a subject. So since we don´t have that problem right now, we can talk about it and brainstorm so that when the demand is there, the solution has been made.

A cool stand-alone STEEM-APP that runs a full node and... why not even be able to blog directly from it and... other things :D

Maybe @klye can draw the GUI :)
