SKYDIVERS, PROFESSIONAL SOUTH AFRICAN'S!!

in fun •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey everyone, what an awesome day spent at Wonderboom skydiving club in Pretoria South Africa. All I can say is WOW, Now I am not like most folks who have always wanted to skydive as personally it scares the sh1t out of me and today I was asked on occasion if I would do it. In carefully thinking about that answer and at a cost of R2600 ($200) the answer was a resounding no. If I was paid R100 000 to do so I would probably tell you to keep the money and this all boils down to the fact that I am sh1t scared of heights and would probably pass out mid-fall. Saying that however filming them coming in 'HOT' as they did and taking pics etc was most enjoyable these boys and girls have some 'MAD' skills.

I love this pic almost looks as if the cloud is cradling the skydiver, that admittedly was also not a skillful shot purely by accident-luck but turned out pretty neat indeed.

This is what the folks look like on the ground in preparation for the next jump. The professionals pack a shoot in around 20 minutes and can literally do 2 jumps and hour. They really are too good and total adrenaline junkies to boot.

Another pic of the same chap closer up been 'cradled' by the cumulonimbus in the background.

I took a couple of dtube videos today that I shall upload in the next day or two I have about 8 videos so cant load them all at once will have to sadly make a few posts to get all the videos out. No better than to take a few 10 second vids to get the real effect, the sound of these guys coming in especially the real pro's who coming in almost vertically to gain super speed and then almost immediately orientate themselves and the chute in a horizontal fashion which enables them to glide parallel to the earth which must be at least 30 metres or more, brilliant, crazy skills and what a sight to behold.

This is my favourite pic just caught at the perfect time this pose reminds me of a batman cross super man super hero making a perfect touch down. I shall post the video later but it too was epic.

Naturally for all beginners if you are keen to take the leap of faith you can do a tandem jump with one of the pro-s and here is how it looks ..

Final Approach..

Decent enough landing and then to be filmed and greeted by a fellow skydiver.

Yeah man. I had a buddy in school that used to skydive... must admit, not my cup of tea either especially considering the cost. If they paid me (doesn't have to be R100k) then I'd give it a bash :D Must be quite the experience :)

Maybe it was the champ here yesterday man that dude was mad crazy good, experience ye. I used to windsurf surf etc. skydiving hmmm not sure.. Kite surfing hell ye :)

I will and really want to do it. Not saying that I won't be scared but I believe that the experience is worth it. Closest thing to feel like you are flying and just imagine the view and being in the clouds.
Doing it once will not be enough for me and I think that I would want to do it over and over again.

Hehe yes no doubt just look at those oaks that day your ol buddy 'Gerrie' jumped a few times.. Ill be there, taking pics and supporting you though, not jumping xx ;) :P

... a better question: "Would you do it again?"
"HELL YEAH", is the answer! I'm a total adrenaline junkie (despite being just as shit scared of heights).

Haha you are crazy like that boet. You should go braai there for them ;) a Braai for a jump??

If I find the right sponsors I'm going to be braai WHILE I jump... all the logistics sorted... just need to find the sponsors.. watch this space;-)

I hope I crack an invite. Ill play photoman for the day :)

Absolutely magnificent shots! My favorite is with the four skydivers, the three in the back are like specs but you can still make out what exactly they are with the white clouds helping them pop out. They just look like the way they are landing is a piece of art itself. And to answer your question, I could never skydive, it scares the bejebees out of me, but I think I'd love to watch just as much as you did.

Thanks bud ye it was crazy, but crazy cool

as personally it scares the sh1t out of me

I think i will win the 'scariest' person contest. If someone comea behind me without warning i will jerk violently let alone skydiving!

I would give it a go, do I need to keep my eyes open and what are the rules on wet pants, don't drip or the person behind you might get some rainy weather. I might actually just wear brown pants I think that would be the end result.

Ha, HA, HA!! Great comment!!

Beautiful pictures! The people that do this - yeah, they just love it! But hey, try it. It's like sitting in a lawn chair for a few minutes and you can just look around. :-)) Of course, there is the landing....

Lol thanks bud... Ye they packing shoots :)

Hey my boy, that sounds like you guys had a mighty fine day there! Nice Pics
Luv

Thanks Dad ye it was rather cool learnt alot not sure if I'd ever do it though.
