Ok, maybe the picture was a bit click baity, but this is a game after all and yes you might die. Well not really but who knows, when I was thinking about this it did require a lot of concentration, specially because I did not write anything down.
So... just to make it extra fun, don't write it down just think about this Question/Puzzle with me
Can you think of a way that someone could be their own grandfather?
This has to be a trick question you might say, but it's only tricky, it actually does have an answer. In short yes, I can think of a way someone could be their own grandfather and I don't have to resort to anything so far fetched that It would make everyone cringe.
I will use some fictional names for my characters because it might make following along the logic a bit easier, but it might not be necessary for some. Ok, here we go:
- George married young and had a son named Jose.
- Jose grew up and married young himself, he married an older lady named Dolores who already had a Daughter named Maria from a previous marriage.
- Maria was of age and met George one day, they fell in love and got married.
- George and Maria had a baby boy and named him Jesus.
Here are some facts we can conclude about this confusing dynamics.
- Jose is his father's son and also his father's father in law.
- Dolores is both George's mother in law and his Daughter in law.
- Maria is both George's wife and his daughter in law.
- Jesus is both George's son and his grandson.
- Jesus is both Jose's brother and his grandson.
Did you get lost?
It's Ok, I confuse myself all the time. Why would I even think about these things you ask? Because games and because of reasons, this is mental flexing now lets pickup the mental dumbbells one more time. This time you can use paper and pen, lets see if the puzzle unfolds for you.
I think I'm too entertained with my own insanity at times.
You could also do this by having children and then getting on a really fast spaceship or maglev train at near lightspeed for a few years. You'd step off the train/spaceship far in the future but only have aged a few years. Then you just go look for your grand daughter and and marry her. Technically as we increase in scientific capabilities we would be able to paste minds on or off human brains (ethics and whether or not its "you" being moved about or just copied and killed is pretty severe here) and you could again do some sort of asking your daughter to give birth to you (Pasted on a baby brain or an egg tweaked to somehow produce your exact brainstate after X years development) and you could create yourself that way.
Even more strange we could probably make it so humans give birth to themselves. Some sort of slow copying over of the mothers brain and using both brains and very slowly you could seamlessly move one consciousness to the other mind and then birth yourself out of a braindead body as a new young person without any loss of continuity or the killing of another copy of yourself. I'm pretty sure we will do this route with computers and nanobots. Very slowly upload ourselves so its a seamless experience and at any given time we are half uploaded. Even weirder, if we pumped our bodies full of nanobots we could separate the cells but simulate all their connections (Including braincells) giving you the ability to turn into an ooze or cloud of cells and remain conscious. Really spooky and weird stuff and all within the realms of known science. I think we'll use that to get around the upload paradox. Replacing you one cell at a time over the course of a few months/years.
You could also be your sister's mom (literally) if you are female by artificially impregnating yourself with your own clone and giving birth to your twin. Technically you would be giving birth to yourself too but humanity is weird about that and there will be two minds that deviate over time. Now if you believe in the whole twin powers thing this might be a pretty good way of adding a whole lot more spooky paranormal weirdness to society.

Your name looks great at the bottom, but the whole could I be my own grandfather blows my mind, I go into melt down roll up into the fetal position and start sucking my thumb, while I slowy rock back and forward humming.
I mentally fold up into a box and lock the padlock and then swallow the key.
I crawl into the feezer and shut the lid so my brain will go to sleep with no more agony. Preserved so I can be defrosted when the thought freezes over.

Man I liked this puzzle. The thing is if you have seen the details of marriage legality in theology, then this is nothing.
I have forgotten about it until I saw your post. Great stuff :-)

He would not be his grand father but his step grand father in your scenario. Now if he were a 3rd generation clone he could (basically a clone of a clone of a cloone ) he could be his own grandfather in a weird biological sense ...

Hahahah... You and I are so similar with thinking about these kinds of things... I love that you put these puzzles out there though. I just disturb my friends at dinner parties (after they've taken mind-altering substances).. Lol!
2 things you missed placing in the titles:
Jesus is both George's son and his STEP-grandson.
Jesus is both Jose's STEP-brother and his grandson.
I'm assuming you deliberately did that to trip people up...
Another thought provoking post brought to you by @meno!
