Creative Date Idea 37 Board Game Night Say No to Netflix and Chill

in fun •  6 years ago

Hello DTube and Steemians!

It's Friday, that means date night! Next up is Creative Date #37 Board Game Night, from my book entitled 101 Creative Dates: ideas, tips, and personal experiences from the life of a hopeless romantic. I love creative dates. It is fun to come up with a new idea or put a twist on a classic idea and take a girl out and have fun. I had all kinds of ideas and personal experiences with dating, so I made a book about it and recently published in on Amazon. I decided to post each chapter of my book for free here on Steemit, but if you would like to buy the book you can find the link at the bottom. Don't let "Netflix and Chill" be the default for your dates! Married, dating someone, single, there is something for everyone!

Board Game Night

One thing I love to do is play board games, from Settlers of Catan, to 7 Wonders, to Dominion, along with some of the classics like Monopoly or Risk. If your date happens to like board games, it makes for a great group date activity. Game nights are bound to have lots of laughs, friendly banter, and a chance to show off some gaming skills, trivia knowledge, or Pictionary prowess—it all depends on what you play. I have a group of friends that I regularly play with; we always wind up having a great night, although sometimes it can get pretty competitive!

What you need for this date:

You need some awesome board games to play, a place to play them, probably some snacks, and you guessed it, treats.

My experience with this date:

A few years ago one of my best friends, Gabe, invited me over to his house for a board game date night. Him and his wife had a blind date lined up for me. I am no stranger to blind dates, and am generally okay with the idea of getting set up with someone I don’t know, especially in a low-pressure environment like a game night. The evening was fun; we played a cooperative board game called Robinson Crusoe, which had us all on the same team trying to beat the board. Co-op games, as they are called, are especially good if you want the competitive spirit to be wrangled in. My date was attractive (well done, Gabe, on the set-up), but we really didn’t connect that well. At least that’s how it was for me, which is a shame because I found out from Gabe that she wanted me to ask her out afterwards.
