Let’s take a shift off that and I’ll let you into a sketchy peep of ceremonies in my culture or I’d rather say tribe.
Ceremonies are some of the most attended events by people of my tribe. I am from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria and it’s nonetheless to say Yoruba’s are flamboyant and exotic in ceremonial executions. Whether it be the naming of a child or a wedding or a burial or a cultural festival, these ceremonies are colourful and without understating the fact, loud.
In this modern age, there has been a different approach to ceremonies and celebrations from what obtained in times past.
The modern society in its bits has tried altering the ceremonial style of Yoruba’s by the infusion of more western style and influence. The sound of pop music can be heard blowing off rooftops at various ceremonies with youths gorgeously dressed in suits and gowns. Many now prefer the choice of well accepted foreign meals in ceremonial settings that scent modern trending flair.
But as this preference increase among the youths, the older generation mostly cling on to their preferred traditional style and subtly ignite the passion in youths under their influence. They organize largely crowded ceremonies which spot attendees in uniform family attires, dancing to various local music genres, eating traditional meals spiced with some continental dishes and aroma. These people display wealth and affluence by spraying currency notes on celebrants and musicians who rain their praises.

The cultural ceremonial rhythm has refused to exit and though many believe it’s a matter of time before it dwindles, many others opine that it just might be waxing stronger.
Every culture has its unique ceremonial panaches that have evolved for ages. These have however been subject to the effects of our present age of modern mélange of different cultural practices that in its own way can make ceremonies more beautiful.
