There are a mechanics with little experience, but of course every mechanic needs to start someplace. For them, it is quite difficult to diagnose an issue utilizing a description of noise from a customer. Unless the noise is obvious, you will be sending the mechanic on a “wild goose chase”. That could be very expensive. Try to find an experienced mechanic and have that person listen to the noise. If it is not obvious to the mechanic, chances are that it is not a big deal. I would doubt that the mechanic would charge you much to listen or test drive the vehicle.
