BLOG # 1: CLOTHING OF SHEETS FOR CLINICAL BEDS OF HOSPITAL THE CHILDREN WITH CANCER.

We are planning, cutting, making our first beneficial activity as a social production company, and our alliance with Venezuelan projects recognized as "Bread from Heaven" and @sc-v, addressing those basic needs for the little ones.

Starting our campaign "the best shelter, it is love" we made our first stop at the children's oncology center of the State of Anzoategui, where approximately 23 children are hospitalized, at this time, the crisis that crosses our country (Venezuela) can not be met all the necessities, the beds do not have adequate clothes for the children, more than one change is required, per week, in this sense, we have proposed to make the dresses of clinical beds.

The majority of the families must bring their own belongings to the hospital center.

We invite all those people who want to get involved to donate a bedding to the oncology center for children located in Barcelona, State of Anzoategui.

It is about injecting life, joy to children, we want to choose children's fabrics, animated, with drawings, not the traditional model that reminds us of a hospital.

We open the doors of our textile workshop for all those who wish to collaborate.
If you are a seamstress and you are in Venezuela Anzoategui, you can make your bedding from your homes, you can also access our online patron and course, and be present as a volunteer on the day of the delivery of this donation.

Each bedding comes out at approximately $ 5, with the donation of labor by Fundacion Vastago.

In this post you will find the steps to make sheets games, but you can give your personal touch with the way you decorate them.

The materials to make them are:
Sewing machine.
Scissors.
Measuring tape.
Pins.
Threads of the same color of the chosen fabric.
Fabric: for an infividual bed: 3.75 meters of fabric of 2.40 wide.
Fabric: for a double bed: 5 meters of fabric of 2.40 wide.
1 meter of thin elastic tape (No. 1 or 2).
Let's do it!

For the covers: you must cut a cloth of 0.55 meters by 1.60 meters (see drawing 4). Then, you must fold and sew the two edges. Next, you must turn and make a 5-centimeter hem. You can add lace, an embroidered strip or festoon equal to that of the sheet, in order to decorate it (see drawing 5). You will perform, one if it is individual or two if it is marital.
For the top sheet: you must cut a cloth of 1.70 meters by 2.40 meters if the sheet is individual; and if not, you must cut the cloth of 2.20 meters by 2.40 meters if it is marital. On one side of 1.70 / 2.20 width, you must make a 10-centimeter hem. You can add a lace, an embroidered strip or festoon to the edge of the hem as applicable. On the other edges, you must sew a double 2 cm hem (see Figure 1).
For the bottom sheet or corner: (you must see drawing 2). For this piece, you must cut a cloth of 1.50 meters by 2.40 meters if it is individual; Or, you must cut the cloth of 1.90 meters by 2.40 meters if it is marital. Next, you must cut at each end a square of 25 centimeters by 25 centimeters. You must sew the sides to form the corners (see the red lines well in the drawing). Then, you must sew a double 2-cm hem around the edge of the corner, leaving a small opening 10 centimeters before the corner and 10 centimeters later, in order to insert the elastic band there. To incorporate the elastic band you must secure a point of the elastic band with a hook pin (safety pin), then you must insert the pin through the slot that is 10 centimeters before the corner, take it out through the slot that is 10 centimeters later. Pass several seams to secure the elastic band in the first slot. Then, stretch the elastic band until it makes a loop and then pass several seams to secure it in the second slot. Repeat this in the four corners. These will remain, adjustable as seen in drawing 3.
