If you live life with regrets, you will have not today to be thankful for
One of the goals of @bettervision that we hope to achieve was to get more ophthalmic equipments to facilitate our work and outreaches to make things more easier for us, more instruments means, more volunteers, which means more people to care for, which also means more eye sights been saved and lots of communities reached. Today we have been able to add one instrument to the stock and all is with the help of our lovely supporters and family, most especially @fundition. We say God Bless you for the love and support shown us all these months.
The Ophthalmoscope was ordered with a help of a student importer, who actually orders them in bulk and sells them to students and practicing optometrists together. The bulk purchase makes it easier to navigate through customs and incurs a lesser cost, hence it was advisable to follow that step. Ordering takes 12 Working Days to arrive which is basically about three (3) weeks. We received this on the 14th, thus two days ago and had to test it to make sure that everything is in order and that it is going to work just fine. We have also been able to order a retinoscope which we are looking forward to it arrival in about 2 weeks time from now. The Ophthalmoscope cost 3000 Cedis which is equivalent to 622 US Dollars and 750 Steem Dollars(SBD) and all this came from our benefactors and benefactoresses from the blockchain. We say Ayekoo
The Ophthalmoscope is an instrument used to examine the fundus of a patient, it is an instrument that cannot be left out in the visual healthcare practice since it is critical to the diagnosis of lots of pathologies.
Live to love and love to live
What is @bettervision about?
@bettervision is is a project initiated by @nattybongo and friends to give back to the society the knowledge and skill acquired through the Optometric Studies in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. It is an outreach system where we visit the less privileged communities to offer free eye screening services and education to the people within the community
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To reduce or prevent vision loss through diseases such as glaucoma, cataract and refractive errors.
To enlighten the majority of the Ghanaian population about the importance of proper visual care.
To conscientize people on the need for regular eye checks
To get more people to have their wards screened within the Critical periods of a Child’s Vision Development; thus from ages 3 to till about 10 years.
To help the blind and people with low vision live a better life within the society through education of the general public to stop stigmatization.
Our greatest gratitude goes to @fundition @adollaraday @surfyogi @girlsfoundation @bleepcoin @ackza and @wafrica for helping to make the aims and objectives of @bettervision a reality.
