Dear Steemians,
This is the fifth update post for the Fundition.io project I have created with regards to the fundraising for flood relief activities in the form of the donations to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund in the South Indian State of Kerala with a link to the Fundition.io project: https://fundition.io/#!/@coolguy123/9a52q7rmd
Major Updates for past 2 days:
With the yeoman service the state government and workers doing with regards to cleaning activity of the houses and other buildings, Kerala government has confirmed that the schools are scheduled to re-open from 29th August, i.e from coming Wednesday and the cleaning of 700+ schools across the state is of primary importance to the cleaning team along with cleaning houses.
Although the Onam festival this time wasn't that enthusiastic for the people of Kerala because of the recent flood, but people gathered and celebrated the Onam in a simple way by drawing the traditional flower decorations and rangoli(drawings using fine grained rock powder) they normally create during Onam as we can see in above picture.
Updates on estimates of Roads re-construction and rehabilitation camps status:
The state government called on for a meeting with Roads Construction authorities including PWD and the PWD estimated the cost to be about INR 5815.25 Crore (about USD 82.8 million) and the road construction activities may go up to 18 months and the cost mentioned is also for 18 months plan.
The count of people in the rehabilitation camps has been less then half as compared to the estimate we had couple of days back with the count of people in camps being 4,62,456 people as compared to the count in last update of 10 lakh (1 million) people.
The estimate for loss of crops and livestock is still to be finalized but an initial estimate puts the figure at INR 20,000 Crore(2.86 billion $) which is almost equal to the total damage cost we had as per our last update
We can see the cleaning team working on cleaning an anganavaadi(pre-nursery school) in Puthenvelikkara near Kochi.
People who are returning to homes from rehabilitation camps have also reported the existence of poisonous snakes and other reptiles in their houses because of the recent flood and as many as 56 snakebite cases have been reported and treated in last 6 days.
Meanwhile, the Indian Government confirmed to Kerala State that the INR 600 Crore it has released to Kerala is an initial advance and more funds will be released from National Disaster Response Fund on assessment of damages.
Dear Brothers and Sisters of Kerala I wish you all very Happy Onam festival, although it's pleasure and enthusiasm are washed away due to recent flood and disastrous calamity but we should thankful to God for what we have.
Dear Sir thank you for bringing the latest update on this regard. I hope a better tomorrow for all the people of Kerala. Although it's a very tough time we should try our best to help them more and more.

Hi @siamcat, a total loss for the people of Kerala in terms of properties, farm and the crops they grew, roads, everything and it will be a new life and new hope for them with the re-construction of all the basic amenities as they celebrate the state's famous festival Onam.
I am from a neighboring state of Kerala known as Karnataka where one of our district called as Kodagu is as badly hit as Kerala and the rehabilitation works are going on there as well.
Thank you for your continuous support in this regard.
I saw somewhere that your iFund post has been selected for the contest announced by Fundition, Congratulations and once again thank you for donating for this project. :)

Even though I am a volunteer firefighter, maybe I can't directly help the flood victims far away, sir @coolguy123
But with prayer, I asked that the flood victims quickly get good facilities, hopefully the victims quickly get the logistics needs needed.
