Chuck Norris is invading my Telegram

I wouldn't say that I try to stay on top of things like politics via anything at all. I almost never look for the news on it but I do subscribe to a few channels on Telegram to at least keep me somewhat up to date on what is going on in the world. Most of it is what you would expect with the reds calling the blues bad and the blues calling the reds bad... it's all so predictable that I don't even bother reading most of it. I know what the conclusion of whatever blurb ends up in my Telegram is going to be based solely on who posted it. This is the way of the media world now and is a big part of the reason why a lot of people are simply tuning out.

Every now and then though, something comes through the cracks that I guess you have to pay attention to and one of those things for me, recently was that Chuck Norris - yes, THE REAL Chuck Norris, wants to give me financial advice.

Now I am sure you are all familiar with the funny statements and memes about Chuck Norris so I felt compelled to at least give the advertisement a look lest Chuck magically roundhouse my computer off my desk from afar should I choose to not click on it.

Turns out he is a paid sponsor for a company called GoldCo and they sell gold and silver. Meh. I don't have anything against gold and silver but the company is probably just another senseless middleman that we do not need in order to acquire gold and silver.

This did get me thinking though and I wondered what other sort of products that Chuck Norris endorses. As it turns out, he endorses quite a few.

Say it aint so Chuck! You have your own brand of bottled water? It get's better though!

It seems like every celebrity no matter how minor, has an energy drink out there and I guess we can add Norris to that line. I have to admit, I would probably buy one of these as a souvenir if I saw it for sale.

Chuck also promotes ERA laundry detergent and I have a little side story to tell about these sorts of endorsements. A guy I went to college with became a bit of a minor celebrity in New York City in the online Poker circles. I'm not going to say his name because he remains anonymous. Anyway, he has a ton of followers on Instagram and one day he was contacted by Tide laundry detergent to do a couple of endorsements on his Instagram page. They gave him $10,000 just to post a few photos that Tide provided for him and then write a few words about how much he loves Tide and how it is the only detergent that he uses.

I don't know how that worked out for any of his followers but my friend told me that he doesn't use Tide, has never used Tide, and Tide didn't even give him any Tide to use following the endorsement.

Therefore I seriously doubt that Chuck Norris uses ERA. He probably just looks angrily at stains and they run away on their own.

Chuck also endorses something called the "Total Gym" and I have never seen one of these for sale or in anyone's house. I seriously doubt that Chuck uses this product outside of the advertisements and YouTube videos where he shows how to use it. I'm sure this is the case with a lot of celebrity endorsements with any or perhaps even all products.

So nicely done Chuck, you made me start thinking about gold and silver investing but for the most part, I just find it funny that celebrities bother to endorse products like these. I suppose it is in their best interest though because there are a lot of really stupid people in the world today that will buy things just because someone they admire pretends to also use it.
