“Speaking fiction to power one story at a time.”

President Trump, attempted to explain his mistake Monday evening in saying “the ‘1917’ influenza pandemic ended World War II,” followed up with further misstatements.

“It’s because WWII was the one John Wayne starred in. The Alamo, Green Berets, True Grit, all those exiting WWII Wayne classics - doesn’t get any better than that!” he exclaimed, not identifying one WWII movie. “An easy mistake, anyone could have done it.”

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany later defended Trump when she told a press briefing, “History is written by winners” as she departed the podium leaving reporters to wonder what she was talking about.
