Day 512 At Home

in funny •  7 years ago

Hey there.

What do you do when you're home?

I know it seems like I'm going to start suggesting stuff for you to do, like they do in some of the more effective blogs, but really I'm just as lost as you are.

I don't do anything at home. Owing to which, I have little social skills, most or all of which are spent on trying to desperately convince(read, 'argue with') everybody at home why mankind as a whole should stop socialising altogether, and embrace the heavens that the solitary insides of our homes are. So if you ever see me at a park and want to have a nice conversation, know to look the other way. But for a fight? Duuudee let's you and me be best friends!

And before you impute my gainsay with socialising to my introversion, my war with fresh air really only has to do with the fact that I wear a Hijab everytime I step out. My anxious brain perceives it as a huge ordeal : Get out of the homeless pajamas, wear the Hijab coat, wear the headscarf that I'm surprisingly inadept at even after years of trying. It's sort of like bathing and trying to look presentable every time you step out. In both cases, we're saving it for when we meet the President.

Today with my non-anxious and well-rested brain, I was watching this YouTube channel called Wandering Lloyd. Actually a video of the guy's titled "Our trip to Nashik" or something showed up on my dashboard, and it had Abish and Kenny in it so obviously I had to watch the video to see how these celebrities human-ed, so I could then think about it for hours afterward. And this random guy was holding the camera and talking throughout, and I thought to myself "Wow. Imagine having a camera handed to random guys like these and finding out that they talk so well." And then my ignorant self finds out that this is not just 'some random guy' but this person in fact has a YouTube channel of his own! It's sort of a travel blog, so I go to it and there's a video with Kanan in it.

At this point, I want to trade friend circles with this guy.

I watch the video and after several minutes of micro-analysing Kanan and Lloyd's friendship, wondering if they're secretly getting annoyed with each other, and what could be the reason for this, was there a fight between the two? Basically just me going Aunt Petunia over their equation with each other, and finding out that I am Kanan Gill while travelling! I, too, don't get 'people who get restless if they're made to sit in the room when they go to a completely new place'. The tour should just consist of actually going to the place, camping in the hotel room, and then coming back home after. It's just the greatest thing. Going out in a place is great, too, I know, but it’s not a worthy opponent of just sitting in one place for hours without budging.

I thought that maybe I shouldn't be so partial and only watch stuff that has comedians in it. So I click on other videos of his, careful to select the ones without any comedians on the thumbnail, so that if Lloyd is watching, he'll know that my support is genuine.

I don't usually like travel blogs, I mean I feel like they're about the usual cliched things like living a good life, breathing clean air and stuff. I mean who wants that, you know? The last time I went out with my family was with a relative. And while I'm mooning over the scenic countryside, my mom thinks its okay to tell my relative tiny, intimate details of our lives like that would otherwise take careful observation over the years; stuff like "she eats like a pig." And the relative then proceeded to buy some wayside food for us which I was in no mood for since I was sitting here trying to be normal for once, but of course I couldn't now, not with my shoulders bent with the weight of having to prove our collective hogging prowess to a pseudo stranger.

But this particular blog had a video of the guy in the Himachal and the idiot(don't worry about me being loose with nicknames with this guy I've never met, I'm sure there is some sort of unwritten social contract between people who fight for copyrights over Youtube videos) had taken such an amazing clip for the opening sequence that in spite of myself, my bird instincts got activated. Apart from wanting to feed worms to my kids, I wanted to be there! How cool I'd look with my backpack and maybe shoot a whole video about it, too, but have a cute fight with Wandering Lloyd over if mine is a ripoff of his.

But wouldn't that be awesome, though? Totally worth the fight over copyright, too. Like, just hanging out with the cool monk kids, and trudging through the waterfall that was strangely on the road itself, and then travelling in the local buses and stuff. Of course, I'm the worst person to be exploring because I somehow turn into Dory as soon as I go to a new place. I have no sense of direction, I forget a place as soon as I look away from it. It's like I haven't been anywhere at all! I envy people who can go places and have the pictures forever etched in their memory(we get that you've been all over the world, now you can stop bragging about it, Dave.)

I guess the attraction lies in the chance to be carefree and have touristy airs about me and just be free of all responsibility in the world, the last thing of which has specifically been tailored to make you think I'm usually trusted with a lot of responsibility. I'm glad this is not a video because now you can't see my mom vigorously shaking her head in the background.
