Me trying to understand the math behind Steemit

I've been here for a week now, still trying to understand some of the math & concept behind Steemit and what makes this model sustainable for a long time. Some of it is easy, but the other half are quite hard to grasp for a newbie like me.

So... Here's to all the newbies out there, who are in the same boat with me.
