As an IT professional, no one's really bothered to ask me this before. I can only assume people think it's "working with computers all day". Well, that's only half the story. Computers are the easy part. IT Pros tell computers what to do and they do it. If not, we fix it!
The other half of the story is "working with people all day". They are the challenges we face. We need to find a way to to keep people happy. Happy computer = happy user. Otherwise, it seems people become snarling, fire-spitting dragons that only calm down once they can insert that image into their spreadsheet. Or the coffee machine in the kitchen works again, depending on their idea of your job description.
SOPHOS summed up the meaning beautifully. Well, at least this is what it feels like...
What does it mean to you to work in IT? Are you one of the users described in the video?
