Slow Demanding Customers

Now that's... that's a good story!

Wow... the guy actually had a problem with a woman driving a truck? Like really? Not to make light of the situation, but he must have poor eyesight and mistaken you for the little old bluehaired grandma that cut him off that morning :p

Good for you turning around and driving off though. That's just sooooo beyond out there. Of all the things to complain about!

Yeah, the northeast is my native region so I'm "used" to it. But it still sucks with all the traffic. I honestly want to go with ODFL or a linehaul company, or maybe a local outfit, and just run part time... the constant traffic is really starting to wear me down. Being out on the open road is really really nice, but the northeast traffic makes me... it makes me angry.

It is unacceptable asking for the keys. But what am I gonna do? I'm a rookie and even though my company is so desperate for drivers they have a, get this, a firing freeze yeah you read it right a FIRING freeze... I'd rather use the leverage that gives me for days off when I want them.

I've thought of switching over to my company's flat-bed division, but as a dryvan driver I get home friday night and leave monday morning, flat-bedders tend to get home saturday night and leave sunday night. I value my home time a lot.

Linehaul it is!

Who did you work for, btw? And where do you work now?

I worked for a lot of different companies ....Ajax and T&T Trucking -- both out of Washington state and out of business. R&R out of Fargo, N.D., and R&R out of Joplin, MO. CX Roberson -- Farmer City, Illinois, Trism out of Joplin, MO. U.S. Express -- worst company I ever worked for -- was like being in the military. I actually had to sleep with my Qualcomm keyboard dangling out the window with the window rolled up, so I couldn't hear their constant harassment at 11 pm one night --"Go deliver this load" ..."No, I was just there, and they are closed for the night." ...."Go back and see if someone is there now." ..."No, I'm exhausted, I'm scheduled to pick up a load in the morning and need my sleep because I have to drive all day tomorrow to get it delivered on time. If I do this now, I will be up all night. I'll drop it off at 8 am, after I've had my shower and breakfast, then will pick up the other load." ..."We need you to go check and see if someone is there." ...Throws Qualcomm out the window and goes to sleep. LOL I HATED those people!!...."I have a migraine, the flu and can't drive to day." ..."Are you refusing to pick up the load?"...Refusing? ..I said I was sick and can't." ...."So you are refusing to pick up the load, correct?" ....I had to quit trucking. I did it for 13 1/2 years. I don't do it anymore. The abuse was unacceptable.
