This is the second animation I made in this style. Already a very clear change in direction can be seen from my first video in terms of the level of detail. I wanted both deers to have unique horns, so I used two separate deer photographs as a direct reference.
The ducks were both drawn by hand first. I then proceeded to take pictures and draw over them digitally.
By this time I didn't have anything fancy to help the process—no drawing tablet, just a touchpad. So as you will probably guess, drawing the characters for this video was a bit of a nightmare, taking many, many hours on end. I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
