The Appeal of Stupidity

SPOILER ALERT: There is none.

Have you ever had those days where a really random thought or instinct just appears into your head from out of nowhere? Okay... everyone has, but what I'm really wondering is how many of you have acted on it? And no, I'm not talking about the life-changing decisions where Granddad decides to spend his retirement savings on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. I'm just talking about the useless, random, curious impulses you get every now and then.

For example, I'm standing at the edge of this cliff/building/something tall, like a bridge. I suddenly feel the urge to kick this rock off and watch it fall.

OR

Hm. That person didn't hear me come into the room. Maybe I should scream at the top of my lungs...

OR

There's a bottle of hot sauce in front of me. It's just sitting there. Begging for something to happen to it. I wonder what would happen if I just took a little, tiny shot of that...

Alright, now I understand these impulses are normally seen in teenagers, which is the main reasoning behind why the stereotypical teen will do plenty of really stupid things surrounded by his or her peers. But you have to admit there is some... appeal to doing something stupid or pointless just for the sake of being stupid or pointless. Certainly, I'm not the only immature one here, am I?

So here is a situation that occurred today. I had just finished my lunch, and I wanted something to drink. I looked in the fridge and found water, kool-aid, and the last of the milk in a small half gallon. I decided to finish off the milk. Now- don't ask me why- but I didn't feel like putting it in a cup. My eyes skimmed around the dish cabinet until they landed on the perfect one. The gravy boat. What would happen if I drank my milk from the gravy boat? It was fine at first- I was just sipping my milk casually out of the indention of the boat. As expected, it tasted the exact same as milk out of a cup. But then I wondered even further- what would happen if I poured it into my mouth like pouring a real gravy boat, only with milk?

Okay- typing it out... It does seem a lot more gross and stupid. But at the time I realized it couldn't hurt anyone, and I'm all alone anyway. So I did. Nothing happened, obviously. I tried it again. Still nothing. The third time I did it, I poured it with a little too much oomph. I choked into the sink and tried to wipe away the milk streaming down my face into my shirt.
Ohhhhh, so that's why people don't do stupid things...

Okay, that was hilarious! And you're not alone on this. My hubby took a picture of me drinking tea out of a teapot once. Luckily, I didn't drown myself.

I hope this was after the teapot cooled down ;)

Ha ha ha! Oh yes, it was quite cool!

hahahahahah! I am so sad i missed the payout on this!!!! I was cracking up LOL yes... well - gravy boats. not intended for milk ;)

since its past the payout - please accept this tip instead!

@tipu send tip 0.5 to the quirkiest countess of all! lol

Oh wow, thank you!
Haha yep, this is a lesson for the future :D

seriously - what a bad supporter i am. Steemit. this place is rough! ;)

and for some reason - it only sent you 0.1 and not the 0.5 i told it to send.

hm. oh well - i'll just have to upvote your comment ;)

Oh dear, miscommunication!!
What I meant by "lesson for the future" was relating to the post; that I wouldn't do stupid things anymore, not "hey this is a lesson for the future that you shall ALWAYS UPVOTE ME AND NEVER FORGET muahahahahahaha"

are you sure? cuz i'm pretty sure you scared me into forever upvoting you!!! lol

I mean... only if you want to ;)

Hmm nope... I can't say I've ever tried to drink milk from a gravy boat ..... but.... I'd gladly laugh at you doing it hehehe :D

Dang- I was hoping it was at least some form of relatable!
Oh well, I guess it's just me and my twisted mind! :)

Hahaha sorry just me and my warped sense of humour laughing at your misfortune :)

Oh no by all means, people who can laugh at things like that have my complete respect! I do the same as well :D

Then we shall laugh at people together :)

and me too!!! i want to come toooooo!!! LOL @andysantics48 dont' you dare go anywhere without me and @monchhichi23!!! hehehe

I second this statement!!!

I drank apple juice out of a pickle jar once. does that count?

Dare I say that might just be worse?

I think you just need to try it before you knock it!

I'll put that in the filing cabinet under "future blog post ideas" ;)

sounds about right!! if it was me I'd have it all down my front :(

@andysantics48 is for sure warped... you should hear her poem about laughing at people falling down the stairs!

or was it up the stairs hahahaha either way! she sat there and laughed all day! LOL

Oh my goodness, it takes a very skilled person to fall up stairs, trip on nothing and choke on air...

I am that person

I wasn't sure where you were going with this story but you made me chuckle at the end there, I've never looked at a gravy boat and thought hmmm let me drink some milk out of it lol, but hey, why not? We all do stupid things just for the sake of doing them, don't we? Even as an old lady, I think to myself, let me see what will happen if..... You get the point lol! It doesn't get better with age, we are all doomed hahaha

Totally! I'm so glad I'm not alone on this!

Ahhh I wish I had read this 2 months ago!! Sooo funny! And I still do impulsive things...for instance...

One day I was outside eating a banana. My lovely hubs goes walking by, and as I finish it up, I look at the peel...then I look at him and WOMP! My peel smacked him right in the face! Of course he threw it back and hit me in the face haha It was so disgusting but perfect! We do it so much that we now expect it LOL So, I totally suggest trying it sometime on an innocent bystander!

P.S. When is your next blog coming??

That sounds hilarious! I love those random urges to do things that make no sense! I kid you not, I zip-tied my wrists together about three days ago. I won't even get into that.
I actually don't know when my next blog will be, I was really excited to write more, then life happened -_- I still try to make time to comment on others' content, but I really need to get back into writing my own!

Lol zip-ties...sounds crazy! But yes, you should definitely write more! Maybe set a goal of one this week!

Hmmm... That sounds like a good idea- I'll definitely try!
