Roxxxy TrueCompanion is a company that manufactures and distributes sex robots. While Young Yoko (who's touted as being barely legal) raises an entirely different set of disturbing implications, Frigid Farrah has many people upset because "Farrah" is designed to resist and protest sexual advances. Despite what TrueCompanion's website advertises to the contrary, it sure seems like Farrah is a sex robot that men are encouraged to rape.
Pure conjecture. The TrueCompanion website explicitly states that the "Frigid Farrah" personality setting was not designed to encourage rape. Further, the allegation that Frigid Farrah is programmed to be raped is pure conjecture on the part of others.
Companionship. TrueCompanion claims that Frigid Farrah is programmed to simulate companionship. It is not exactly clear how the website equates unwanted sexual advances with companionship.
Orgasm. Roxxxy robots are programmed to reach orgasm in every personality setting, including Frigid Farrah. This perpetuates the toxic idea that women can find rape pleasurable.
The specifics. When the robot is set to "Frigid Farrah," if her genital area is touched, she protests. TrueCompanion's site states that she will "not be too appreciative of your advances."
The cost. Roxxxy sex robots cost $10,000. There are also male sex robots available; the Rocky model, complete with a bionic penis.
Pure submission. Sex robots represent absolute sexual submission. They are completely powerless and their only purpose is to sexually fulfill their owners.
Lack of consent. Despite the website's claims to the contrary, it is undeniable that Farrah eroticizes a woman's lack of consent. The fact that she can reach orgasm further perpetuates the myth that women can find sexual assault pleasing.
The clientele. Some argue that it's better for men to rape robots than to rape real people. Others disagree, saying that raping a sex robot only normalizes the act of rape.
Young Yoko. Young Yoko is also problematic. While she is described as being 18, she is programmed to act in an extremely childlike manner.
An outlet. Some argue that submissive sex robots are an "outlet" for men who are inclined to violently rape women. Others point out the fact that while the urge to rape women might be temporarily alleviated, the underlying issue, the urge to rape women, still exists.
Hyper-realistic. The Roxxxy TrueCompanion robots are extremely realistic. They are programmed to speak, move, and feel like a real woman. Of course, the only thing that they don't have is the ability to give consent, which does not seem to be a problem among buyers.
The studies. Sellers of sex robots often point to studies that indicate that sex robots actually lead to a decline in the amount of sex crimes perpetrated each year. However, the studies are few and far between and the data is inconclusive at best. Many people are simply unwilling to divulge the intimate details of their sexual habits.
A bad combination. When you combine violent pornography with a sex robot that encourages rape, it undeniably encourages rape culture. No matter how the manufacturer attempts to package it, sex robots programmed to protest sexual contact and yet ultimately reach orgasm are encouraging rape.
