Snozeberries and Predator Shimmers- Weird Childhood Thoughts- The U.S.S. Minnowprize!

One of the best things about being a kid is that wild imagination!

But with a wild imagination and youth comes a very.. miscontrued understanding of a lot of things.

We thought it would be fun to go through some weird things that we believed as kids!

Different colors tasted different.

This red candy tastes like red!

The purple and green ketchups taste different!

Sorry, guys. It is just food coloring.

Your life is a lie.

Rollercoasters were tested by suicidal people.

When I was a kid I believed that whenever they built a roller coaster or ride, that instead of test dummies, they would let people that wanted to die ride it first to ensure safety, naturally!

I even assumed that if they didn't die that they got a pat on the shoulder, a year entry to the park, and a "better luck next time".

Kids are weird.

The predator was real and it was stalking me.

That shimmer of heat waves in the summer?

PREDATOR!

That snapping branch?

PREDATOR!

Bird call?

SNEAKY PREDATOR!

Moon drops behind cloud?

Night black as pitch?

Cold breath down your neck..

IT'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!

Stop, drop, and roll is not needed nearly as much as I was made to believe.

Throughout school stop, drop, and roll was beaten into us near to death.

As a child I imagined that people caught aflame ALL THE TIME for this to be such a large part of safety training.

Come to find out, burning to death is not a daily threat!

Or tornadoes.

Or quicksand.

And I wasn't offered drugs as much as the DARE program promised.

Bit disappointed about that one.

Airplanes stayed in the sky by the sheer will of the pilot alone.

I always pictured a pilot straining and purple in the face making sure the plane kept flying.

I figured all pilots were actually professional strong men with a weekend gig.

"GO, BABY, GO!"

I have no idea where I got this from.

What are some weird things that YOU believed as a kid? Please leave some in the comments! Let's have some laughs!

I got a real kick out of this one! Stop! Drop! and Roll! made me feel like the kid next to me was going to instantaneously combust. Totally bummed on that one.

There were so many, Sam. The boogeyman was always good for a scare. You never go out into the night, you know! The boogeyman might get you.

Don't get out out of bed at night. You just don't know what lives under there... my brothers did, but they wouldn't tell me!

Haha! Thanks for the laugh Sam and Stitchy @stitchbitch Good stuff. :)

Awesome post! Made me laugh. I’m so with you on the stop, drop, and roll!

It brought this to mind...

We had wild imaginations as kids but we acted out the things that played through our minds!

Once when I was 2 or 3 my brother and his friend, who were both a year older played cowboys and Indians... well... the “Indians” tied the younger of us “cowboys” to a telephone pole (stake). They built a pile of dried leaves and twigs at our feet and lit it!!! They mimicked what you see in movies and danced around us.

Luckily my mom called us home before any damage was done and my older brother became a super hero and rescued us! My parents only recently found out that we did this.

Yes, I grew up quite unsupervised! Kind of a byproduct of growing up in polygamy! 😉

So many different wild and crazy childhood memories are playing through my mind right now. 😉

I MADE TOY ENGINE IN MY CHILDHOOD.

I missed being a kid with wild imaginations and my believe in myths then were so strong. Haveing never to worry about things and i got scared so easily of strange movements in the dark. I believed there were demons in them.

The food dye thing reminds me of this ice cream we used to have when we were little! We called it “super man” ice cream. It was yellow, red and blue (naturally lol if it was Superman). We used to imagine that the blue was blueberry and the red a little strawberry and the yellow very vanilla tasting.
In actuality the whole thing is vanilla -_-
I still eat it and it’s still my favorite just for the crazy nostalgia lol

I feel like kids these days do not have imaginations like we did. they seem too preoccupied with their devices!

I have an autistic five year old who is already way hooked in to technology but also has more practical imagination than I ever did!
