The Story of a Homeschooler

in funny •  7 years ago

For those of you who have read my introduceyourself post, you would know that I am a homeschooler, and proud of it. For those of you have not read my introduceyouself post, I am sure your thinking How did I miss that? (facepalm) I need to go read that right now!! You would be exactly right and I'm glad you brought it up. You should probably do that right now, as you previously mentioned.  Anyway, as I said, I'm a homeschooler. There are pros and cons to homeschooling, and just because I think its the goodest doesn't mean its right for everyone. However, I would like to clear up some of the myths about homeschoolers. I would also like to show you how public schoolers and homeschoolers have equivalents (I know you're thinking "what the fudge is that?"(It will make more sense later, I just put it there to make you curious enough to finish the article)). Enjoy!

Myth 1: Homeschooled kids are not socialized.

One of the greatest myths about homeschoolers is that they are not socialized. I would like to point out quickly that it is a myth! which means "not true" I believe. So, checkmate already. But to sweeten the honey pot (Im not allowed to use gambling references) I shall add a little more proof to this point. I have taken a few classes at a local college and have noticed that most people-when they want to ignore you-pull out their phones. This proves that homeschoolers have to be more social than public schoolers, because we rarely have phones, and if we did, it would be hard to ignore someone by pulling out the bag phone.

Myth 2: All homeschoolers have 15 siblings.

I cant help laughing when I hear this one. Anyway...

Myth 3: Homeschoolers aren't smart.

Well, I could do the classic: i dunt no wy peeple think im not smartt... but that is overused and refuse to do it. So there. But really, why would people think that? Homeschoolers consistently get higher test scores than public schoolers. And, not to brag, I recently scored a 4.0 on the ACT. Bang!

Public Schooler vs, Homeschooler equivalents

And, finally! on the proverbial "edge of your seat" or, for the steemit whales, "edge of your throne" you can now figure out what I meant by this! Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for making it this far. So here we go.

Public Schoolers are often exposed to the "cool kids" who drink beer. Its no lie that many kids fall to the peer pressure in grade school. Homeschoolers have the same peer pressure, just with different things. And, as I'm sure you already know, the homeschooler equivalent to beer is, of course, energy drinks. There's always that baddonkey kid at the party who brought in a 6 pack of red bulls. Then there's that group of homeschoolers in the corner talking "nah bru, dude I tell ya I shot down to monsters side by side last night, just boom boom, ya know?" And then the homeschool equivalent to getting drunk, is, of course, staying up late. I'm telling ya last night I stayed till 11 oclock, and I'm telling you, I don't know how many people I was texting. I dont even want to look and see what I sent, you know? That's a joke yall, of course. My phone doesn't have texting.

(sorry if this ending is abrupt, my dad stopped running on the treadmill so the computer is out of power)

Well although I'm sure you read my introduceyourself post, you probably just missed that I was from Arkansas, not Oklahoma ;-) lol

I was seriously about to downvote this until I realized it was in humor. I need to pay more attention while I'm scrolling through my feed. Awesome stuff, a definite follow.

Haha thanks, of course its humor, Although I really am homeschooled. I think everybody should be able to laugh at themselves from time to time, and if you cant laugh at yourself... follow me and laugh at other people! Thank you and you have my follow as well.

I respect that. Kudos! People these days take themselves too seriously haha

Agreed.

Nothing wrong with being homeschooled, man!

No there's nothing wrong with it. I really enjoy it. But I also enjoy humor. Probably more so the latter.

Nice post. Ha - goodest... and phone doesn't have texting. "Gneiss" ones (if you're into Earth Science).

Haha thanks. lol

I know exactly what you mean, lol
