This is a bit of a concern. My wife measured my height today and we discovered that I’m actually shorter than I used to be, by more than a centimetre.
This may not seem a cause for concern. After all if you are 200 centimetres tall, or more, you can afford to lose a few and no-one would even notice.
I, on the other hand, have precious few centimetres to start with, so losing one is bit of a big deal. My wife already calls me her little Hobbit (are my feet really that hairy?). if this keeps up, I will actually be a Hobbit soon.
I wonder if it is all that running making my legs shorter…..

As we age a lot of us lose stature due to postural changes due to arthrtis, bone abnormalties, actual bad posture (over time), poor body mechanics (over time), ETC! If you have arthritis in your knees (exacerbated by running) the cushioning you'd normally have in your knee joint could get work out quicker. I Dont like to buy in to that theory regarding running because well, I am biased as a runner. But most of my colleagues would disagree to my chagrin. Anyway, cartlidge wear done can cause height decrease. And depending on your arch, you could be becoming more bow legged as the cartlidge wears more on one side vs the other. That's why a lot of my total hip or knee joint replacement patients are actually taller following joint replacement. That surgery freaks me out as a runner yet I am around it all the time. Anyway, i would say unless extreme, your height decrease is probably normal. Also you are shorter at the end of the day the beginning due to gravity's compressive force . So be sure to measure in the AM =)

I don't think that running making you all that shorter.
As we age our bones marrow density might get little bit shorter as it regenerates usually but running putting pressure on bones keeps them strong and I guess it's not the biggest factor.
I guess your body mass specifically muscles are getting more leaner that could be the literal cause of losing your cm.
Well there is a period when we keep growing after we hit puberty but it's not forever, our growth plates between the bones joints closes by 25 sometimes even 30 to fully close the plates and it depends on the person.
Increased consumptions of dairy products can really boost your growth as it's the main growth factor.
You can't really growth hormones now if you already turned 20+ because it's not gonna work but you could constant your doctor. There are also things like mk677(kind of growth hormone) very powerful for full body growth (move with caution consult your doctor before using).
Bottom line is your height doesn't matter so much to others as much as you feel, because you are short doesn't make you all that imperfect, you should feel good about yourself.
I don't think hairy feet protects you all that much from cold because you need lots and lots of hairs for that like the very early men but because it's still left in our DNA from the early men we still get a little of it.
If you feel embarrassed because of your feet hairs you should consider doing permanent hair removal surgery, it won't cost you much and in simple terms it's just a laser burning the hair follicle entirely so it never grows back up on it's own.

I know my weight changes during the day, even when I don't eat. I've come back from a 20km run over a kilo heavier than when I started. And I hardly drank anything.
And.... I've had a big dinner and then been lighter than I was in the morning.......
But my height has been pretty constant up until now.... just a shade under short-arse ;-)
