I am suggesting that humankind, in the future, will build their houses predominately underground.
Why the f*ck would people dig a hold to build their house in? Holes are an extra step!
People will start building their homes within the earth for similar reasons that the rabbits and other small animals do, its great shelter. From the wind and rain, but most importantly the sun. Its no shock that the world is going to get hotter, energy will continue to get more expensive, and cooling and heating bills will continue to rise.
As you will annoyingly hear repeated leading up to and throughout this trend of people building their houses underground, the earth remains at a stable-ish 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 C). Kinda common knowledge.
Compared to controlling the climate in a standard house, heating and cooling consts in sub-terrain homes can be $200 a year with some creativity.
Homes in the near future are going to consist of large storage containers underground. I personally envision my home to be completely below the terrain, three containers deep.
