I would say that when it comes to innovations, the community gathers to develop in the attempt to create future changes in economy.

The techy development has nothing to do with the social content providers. Two different things.

Joint self interests....?(ie with a single/similar goals that serves a conglomeration of separate interests..) I don't think so.
When creators meet the politicians (specualtors, and people more interested in climbing than, than creating) , the creators will lose.
They're too honest for that game, to ever win.
